As another anon mentioned, OLED is better. But it's interesting to note how terrible all the images look at 60fps, even on OLED, which is super fast. CRT doesn't have this problem because of the way the image is generated. You can insert black frames between each frame if your screen is 120hz to try to mitigate the problem on IPS or OLED screens, but then you make the image appear about half as bright.
It's crazy that so long after CRTs fell out of use, we still don't have screens that are truly capable of handling the movement of images in games.

People like modern nintendo fans are exactly why we still don't have flat screens that are truly capable of handling movement. People are so slovenly cultist that they will defend any business decision no matter how short-sighted it is, or how many corners are cut.

Nintendo used to have a seal of quality on their products. They used to pride the quality and construction of their devices and games. Now anything they make is nothing but a cash withdrawal from their pay piggy ATM fans who have replaced OnlyFan findom thots with a faceless organization wearing the skin of something that made them happy during their childhood.

The Switch 1 LCD screen is garbage (despite being CONSIDERABLY faster than the Switch 2 screen), but at least it comes with a more or less decent factory calibration. The colors on the Switch 1 LCD screen tend to be pretty true to what you'd expect to see on a properly calibrated device.

Inserting a black frame completely solves the problem of modern screens being crap, but the final image is very dark and I don't know how viable it is for games. On my monitor with a response time of about 5ms according to rtings, the image is perfect at 48fps, much better than the same image at 144fps.

>>715009380
I used an external device.
It works something like this: you see the lighting in your room (in my case, I use 6500K bulbs), and from there, the idea is that the colors on your monitor look as close as possible to the colors you see in your room, in the real world.
So if, for example, you scan an image from a book and look at the same book in your room and on your monitor screen, the colors will be very similar.

problem with BFI is it doesn't work with VRR which makes it kinda shit for high refresh screens, even factoring in that you are cutting your refresh rate in in half anyway and for low refresh rate screens BFI isn't a magic bullet as the panel still has to transition from black back to colour.

There is shit I care about and shit I do not care about. I do not care about scrutinizing the alien test. Are you really going to get a thousand pound CRT because the response rate and motion blur is perfectly optimized? No, you just get a monitor that's good enough. I'd rather have the Switch 2's LCD over a hypothetical OLED that would add $50 to the price.
And if we did need something that would add to the price, the screen would be the last thing to modify since its already good enough. I'd add hall effect sticks or a larger battery.

If nintendo gave a single shit about their hardware then they could easily fix this by inserting black frames at 120hz and downconverting gameplay to 60hz. The switch 2 is capable of it. And it would look great with almost no ghosting. But they won't do it because their company model is flipping shit cheap shit from china and painting it bright colors for their retarded audience.

I do find it hilarious that nintendo fans are justifying paying $80+ yearly subscription + dlc packages + battle passes but scream when you dare suggest that nintendo put more quality into their actual hardware, a one time purchase.

bfi isnt that easy to implement
the monitors that have a worthwhile implementation tend to be very expensive esports >360hz tn/ips panels and most monitors that have the feature will get reviews saying its shit
it generally hits brightness very hard as to maintain same brightness with bfi the pixels need to be brighter. Switch display with its middling 400 nits might not get bright enough.

That's true but the option should exist. The blur on any motion is incredibly jarring on the S2. They really should have gone with a better display even if it meant a 30-50 dollar more expensive development cost. Nintendo made billions from the switch 1, they could have afforded to provide a better quality product for the same price at a slightly lower profit margin.

If the modern day nintendo made the gameboy, it would be a frail piece of shit that dies 5 months into the use and would be plagued with issues like button wear because of the modern era's obsession with cutting corners.

If the Switch 2 OLED were only $50 more, I think it would be an easy decision.
I'm not a fan of OLEDs because I use my computer heavily for work, sometimes leaving the same program open for 14 hours and things like that, but for a device just for casual gaming, spending only $50 more and getting such a superior screen would totally be worth it.
But I don't think it would be just $50 more. The Switch 1 OLED is only $50 more expensive than the regular Switch, but as far as I know, the more optimized design has caused the price of other things to drop compared to the regular Switch.

I don't think that will happen. Overdrive isn't something you download from the Internet. Your monitor comes with certain settings from the factory, so it needs to have been built with that in mind. And overdrive has its problems too. On my monitor, there are several levels of overdrive, and only the most subtle one is really usable, because all the others degrade the image considerably, making it WORSE than just ghosting.
