>>715015587 (OP)I kinda miss this. I had like 3-8 average viewers but it was really comfy. It's like how I imagine having a cozy bar that you frequent is, with some cool regulars to shoot the shit with and other randoms that come and go.
>>715017260no thanks. i don't want to get targeted by your kind or have you as my target audience.
>>715017260>Post channels. If I see you live then I'll check you outHave not created it yet, or I would.
I'll probably be boring though unfortunately.
>>715016963Who knows. I play all sorts of shit.
I know its better when trying to grow an audience to commit to one or two games, but unless I actually start to like the MMO I used to play again, I'll probably bounce around a lot and hope I can cultivate a personality people find enjoyable.

>>715015587 (OP)>i just wanted to play video games and talk to people. That's the dream. I really need to finish my half-life playthrough, but I have so much backlogged footage to edit. I wish I had an editor...and money for the editor.
Anyways, new video today. Normally I would talk about my final thoughts of a game at the end of the playthrough, but I ended up writing a lot so I made a dedicated review-ish vid for Mega Man 1. These Post-Series Reviews are supposed to be extremely lazy podcast-type vids, but the way I wrote it meant I was kinda forced to put way more effort into it. I'm really happy with how it came out. I'd appreciate it if any of you kind folks would check it out.

Thinking about streaming with a gay furry model, playing Nintendo games and saying faggot
>>715019457holy your voice sounds good. what kind of mic and filter settings do you use if i may ask?
>>715019283The problem with going to the least viewed is that you can get multiple streamers that aren't English speaking. You're constantly parsing tags to find a stream you can even understand in the first place.
I normally troll through the retro category. So people tend to shift through games a lot so looking for 10 viewer and lower streams is desirable to find a game you'd like to see played.
>>715019587Thanks anon. I use a Shure SM7B. I record the VO, hit it with a single band compressor with settings that work for me, Normalize it, then hit it with a noise reduction. While I cut it down, I eliminate any noises that the noise reduction missed. No real filters. I feel like the mic does an excellent job to start and the editing process gets it to where I like it.
Why not join a discord server and stream to the people there? Even if you just wanna stay on Twitch the most direct way to get people watching you is to befriend the people off the site and convince them to pop in the stream every now and then
>>715021196>Why not join a discord server and stream to the people there?Wouldn't even know where to begin to find one. If I try to find one on reddit, then it's filled with extremely disingenuous weird people who always try to take advantage of each other. If I find one here, then there's always multiple anons that think spamming "nigger" and "slop" is the funniest thing in the world. In both cases, it always devolves into a cooming popularity contest. I get that I might be overly negative, but my experience with discord groups have always been extremely negative, unless it's just with personal friends.
>>715015587 (OP)Should have started 14 years ago, bro.
>>715022281Nah, that's the bullshit. I thought I was too late in 2013. Just start and move forward.
>>715023221That's true. Popularity wanes over time, people get tired and do something else. There is a chance for someone new to rise up.
>>715015587 (OP)>I want Maybe think about what other people want if you want them to do something for you in return.
There are thousands of twitch streamers playing games and talking to themselves right now
>>715015587 (OP)You forgot to check if you have tiddies.
>>715023221>>715023406Based and realistic take. Just because it's hard or near impossible to "make it", doesn't mean it's completely impossible. Success is subjective. You don't need to be the next Asmon, Kai, or XQC to be successful.

>>715025603bubble popped, novelty for west is gone
you'll attract groomers if you have even a moderately attractive model
you'll attract catty dramawhores because vtubing is now a social thing unless you can somehow enhance your streams/videos with the model (unlikely)
anyone not into vtubing will irrationally hate you by association just for the above reasons or just because they don't like anime
>>715025856So it's like discord meets 4chan also known as 4chan.
>>715025360is that going to be your model?
>>715025603Male vtubers aren't very welcomed in the EN scene. You'll probably have more success as someone that doesn't stream with a webcam and no avatar. Why? Normal people are often turned off by vtuber avatars, EN vtuber fans often hate male vtubers. If you're going to be a male vtuber your audience is women and their interests which might not align with yours. Sure there are outliers with success, but why pay money or put in the effort to make an avatar to actively be a detriment to having someone click on your stream?
>>715025979I'm currently in the process of drumming up the design I want
I have a little bit of the character design, I just need to tweak a little more and lastly get a functioning model of him
I think I could have moderate success
>>715026039there are successful male vtubers, the problem is that 99% of them are femboys or act unassuming and submissive before they get google doccy'd in a year or so, the remaining 1% are drama peddlers no different from the likes of keemstar
>>715026039You're not thinking with portals, anon. Shota chad avatar and start cucking the viewer by conquering all the popular vtuber chicks. Infinite money.
Not so much streaming but I really wanted to make videos just of me ranting about my favorite games, or my hot takes. Not to gain views or popularity but more so just for me. But im a perfectionist so I record my voice and then think I need to have perfect gameplay, voice needs to be perfect etc, and so I just upload nothing. Why am I such a faggot
>>715026350Sadly you'll need perfect gameplay because people are nitpicky when you're negative about a game and just say "no wonder you hate the game when you play like this".
>>715015587 (OP)If I see you talking in my game you're getting reported for harassment. I want to play the game not socialize with some lonely cunt

>>715015587 (OP)Don't do it op, you will have to become an insufferable retard to keep most peoples attention otherwise you will end up with 2 viewers talking with you or no one talking to you and at that point it's just easier to get friends that you can just call on Skype and share your screen.
>>715015587 (OP)m8 lemme give you a hint
All of the streamers you see on Twitch have a shill or a grift of some kind.
Every. Last. One.
You do not get even one viewer on Twitch without having one or the other. Either get raided by someone popular while you are doing a popular thing, or have some kind of grift on /v/ that gets you a small cult following.
The people who tell you "Don't shill", yeah these people want you to fail. They couldn't stand knowing that you could be successful while they're not, even if the success is limited, and will demand you play on their level (99% of /v/ doesn't stream because they're brown and have thick indian accents, btw)
>>715017332You can have that again. Don't give up.
i wish i had an editor, i would rather be spending my time improving stream stuff or working on bigger projects than turning things into in my spare clips but my clips on youtube shorts do pretty well, but trying to stay conscious of clippable stuff ruins my on-stream pacing

Abused housewife, whose husband doesn't let her have friends, treats you like a boyfriend but it can't go anywhere because she lowkey thinks her husband will snap and kill her.
Gaymer who turns every conversation into a sexual situation to advertise how gay they are.
Gamer mom, who also has a penis and plays queen bee to his gaggle of sycophants.
Rage monkey ex military guy who treats every online game like he's being shot at by the Taliban because he never got to see combat and has blue balls. Barking orders at his teammates.

You will never make it. The ones that did streamed for decades until they finally decided to viewbot until they got a natural audience, or they got popular on youtube/tik tok and decided to stream
unless you know a famous person, dont even try. Most young people nowadays are young zoomers that only play/watch roblox/minecraft or fortnite too so the remaining audience you can find are dying boomers/millenials that dont have time to watch so unless you become a nigger tier zoomer like ishowspeed, you wont attract those younger zoomers
just give up. If you truly wanna get big, find a gaming niche and make videos on it and if you ever become big, THEN you can stream
dont even try. Im dead serious its over, we no longer live in that millenial era of youtube and twitch

>>715037551Ehh. Maybe. I feel like a majority of time on /v/ /vg/ people tell you to fuck off.
I have no clue how his original streams started, but I would say it counts more or less.
>>715037643/vt/ has a thread (more accurately "had" considering its complete shit these days) where anyone starting out could post their link and get some decent views to start off with but this was when vtubing was still in a bubble. one of the current holo boys is from that thread and there's a chance another one is heading over to holo as well
i don't have anything against haru personally but various members of his fanbase are annoying and have been there since day one for him
either way my point is that i would consider streaming to nobody as streaming for weeks or months without advertising anywhere which is more common outside of vtubing
>>715037971oh /vt/ my mistake.
Regardless, I dont think posting a link there necessarily guarantees success.
>weeks or months without advertising anywhere which is more common outside of vtubingThats fair. Though I think if you are actually trying to grow, thats also a mistake on the part of the streamer to go about things that way.
>>715037971I literally just went to see the 24/7 thread that /vt/ has. Haru is already well known there. I don't have any issue with him either, except for one certain thing. I know you're seeing this haru and yes I'm calling you out. No I won't elaborate.
If /v/ had the same kind of thread, then I'm sure there would be a boost for non-vtuber folks
>>715015587 (OP)the same amount of people who would still want to be a streamer if it suddenly couldn't provide income anymore
>>715038207yeah not advertising is 100% a mistake but it really depends on what you stream or what your lot was before you started. bubble era vtubing was the best time to get started if your only talent is being a bottom or woman. haru is the former and was mistaken for the latter repeatedly

I took the easy way in.
Came across a small tuber, liked his stuff, got active in watching and commenting, became recognizable, joined the discord which was a lot more familiar and chill, talked about potential upcoming content/games, got invited to play some multiplayer stuff like Rivals and Deep Rock with a couple other regulars and the "star", wasnt a speegy weirdo and had a good time, tuber asks if we mind being recorded for potential vid, sure.
Now I'm an infrequent guest LPer with my own POV edits and stuff. Pretty neat and low stress fun.
i wanna become a vtuber/pngtuber but don't know the first thing about creating a model or rigging it. what're the best places to commission models and rigging at these days?

Hate twitch. simple as
>>715042261Lurkers are incredibly important. While an active chat makes things easier, knowing the number isn't 0 is itself a load off your shoulders.
If they're there all the time, they're fans, they're community, even if they don't talk much. Their existence helps boost you up a bit and there's a chance they mention you to other people. Talking with them when they are active in chat makes a better chance of them talking outside of their preferred game since it's your vibes they like.
As a viewer, I get it. It's always the worry about being too quiet or being too spammy. While I'm sure the streamer enjoys the times when you're active in the chat, just having lurkers helps them out.
>>715043312Idk about you but I run into this girl a lot. Enough that I included it in my list of stereotypes. It's the girl whose husband/boyfriend pressured her into a relationship, then into playing games. Husband is typically one of those guys with a case of the notgays (probably pressured her into doing anal and prefers anal). Type of guy who HAS to have a girlfriend to show the world how notgay he is. Highly socially manipulative, friends with her parents and all her friends. She's just kind of half assing it because she's trapped in a social prison where she can't prove his psychotic vibe to her friends (he's mr perfect to everyone else), and can't break up with him for fear of looking like the bad guy so she fills her emotional needs with strangers on the internet while living a life of suffering and holding back tears during anal sex. You haven't run into anyone like this? Seems fairly common.

What capture card? The elgato shit is "on sale" on Amazon but it pretty much always looks overpriced. Should I just suck it up and bite the bullet with one?
>>715045002From what I can tell elgato is the only card worth using. Suck up to them so they can sponsor you and recoup your losses.
>>715045002I have the Elagato HD60S and the EVGA XR1 lite. They both work fine 99% of the time, but have been finicky with OBS sometimes not recognizing them. That problem could be for a thousand different reasons though. Not all computers are the same. I've never had an issue with them fucking up during a recording or stream and that's all that really matters. I primarily use Elgato since that's what's at my desktop. The other is at my laptop. I don't particularly feel like one is better than the other, they do what they advertise.
>Should I just suck it up and bite the bullet with one?Yeah. You could always emulate games first if you don't want to commit to the expense yet
>>715045785Is 127 bucks a good deal for one? Or is this one of those always in demand things that never truly goes on sale? The X overkill one is 60 bucks more.
>>715036921If you are very, very good at the game you are playing you might get viewers.
>>715045958Well amazon is telling me I paid 60 bucks for the EVGA one in 2022 and almost 200 for Elgato in 2017.They both only record 1080p. I'm assuming the pricier one you're looking can record in 4k. You should figure out what your use case is.
Do you want to stream?
Cool, I promise that you will never stream in 4k.
Do you want to upload videos?
Cool, is 4k really that important to you? If it is, then I hope you have an extremely beefy computer to edit that footage.
Believe it or not, almost everyone is fine with 1080p footage in 2025. I'm assuming you're looking at the Elgato HD60 X and the 4K X. If money is not problem then go 4K X. It'll be nice future proofing. If you don't want to spend that much, then don't think of the HD60 X as settling cause it's still excellent for what it is. Cheaper and better than what I bought in 2017
>>715046856Honestly I don't even have a single TV or monitor that does 4K. The most is 1440p which I wouldn't record in anyways. Okay I'll try the Elgato HD60 X thanks.

>>715036921At that point you may as well not stream and just upload long gameplay videos instead.
>>715015587 (OP)if you guys legit want to have a viewer base, i would start by finding a streamer you genuinely enjoy watching that has a chat that's slow enough to actually read everyone's messages. just chat and hangout and try to have a good time without being obnoxious and you'll eventually start to make friends. then you start using streaming as a way to hang out with those friends. also the streamer will probably raid you if they need someone to raid, which helps a lot, even if its just 30 viewers (and half of them will immediately leave)
having more than 5 viewers on any game that doesn't have more than 1000 viewers will basically put you in the top 5 immediately. from there just treat it as a way to hang out with friends and if you start to accrue new viewers see that as a bonus. also having people talking in chat helps with having things to talk about, so less dead air.
having a skill other than being good at videogames will help get new viewers as well. even if you don't really have anything else, you can start streaming your journey to attaining a new skill and people will like watching you grow.
from there you can do things like get a vtubing model/facecam if you want (if you're a guy, try doing something thats not an anime boy/girl) and do overlays and stuff, it will help you stand out from others in the thumbnail

I also like that thumbnails have a consistent format
>>715052538I appreciate you checking a vid out and the compliments as well anon. I feel like comp style vids might keep people's attention more than regular LP's. Just cut out as much of the down time as possible while retaining all the story bits. Plus less parts to a series might retain more viewers throughout it as well. I am struggling a bit with this format though since I also add some post commentary and usually write something out for an outro. Just takes too long to edit and keeps me from uploading/streaming more. I'm trying to find a happy middle ground.
I hate how Twitch as a platform does nothing to promote new streamers. Everything is optimized to push already established streamers on to everyone. Just one dedicated category for small streamers could have been nice. But they really leave the content creators to swim with the sharks.
>Stream some vidya
>Almost every 20 minutes some spambot comes in to drop a link to some website or some blantantly obvious scammer with a name like Rebecca_Modezea_2003 comes in and goes like "Oh wow you play this game a lot? I can help you get a bigger crowd! Tell me about yourself!"
No one, NO ONE has that much fucking positivity and curiosity for a 24 follower streamer playing some Tit and Ass Furry shooter game. Please go scam somewhere else. I can smell the street you shit on.

idk why this always happens but it's rough, i really feel like someone should preserve these games in an accessible format but my autism forces me to rework everything to make it less boring again and again until i just write it off

>>715055848This is my #1 annoyance with streaming. I don't even mind streaming to no one, but I fucking hate the bots. Even with requiring verified accounts, I seem to at least get 1 bot per long stream.
>>715056485Itโs an option on Twitch. Iโm not in my PC so I canโt screenshot it. Basically you choose who can chat, email verification required, phone verification required. I think email is enough to weed out most scammers. Keep in mind though there might be legit viewers who want to chat with you but never bothered to verify their email. So itโs a double edged sword.
>>715056620Bots are annoying, but straight up scammers are even worse. Had someone come into my chat asking about doing a promotion. I send him a $50 gift card for his community to win in a raffle and heโll get his community to follow me and everyone wins.
>>715056739>>715056485>>715056257why verify through email/phone instead of followers only?
>millenials wanted to have a good let's play channel
>zoomers want to have a good twitch channel
cute!
>>715057104Viewers generally hate this. A lot will just click off your channel if they see they need to follow you first before chatting.
>>715057231? as opposed to email or phone verification? no way. there's a reason most streams have some level of follow requirement for chatting (either just simply follow, or having followed for a minimum specified amount of time), while phone verification is only seen in certain 10k+ viewer streams or smaller streamers who enable it because of dedicated trolls who target them
>>715057148Nobody is going to believe me but I wanted to stream myself playing video games back when the PS3 was released. This was pretty much when video game content creation was at its infancy. I never did it because Iโm tech illiterate and it would involve using a capture card, which I was too dumb to bother trying to get to work. If I followed through I could have been one of the pioneers of video game streaming. But I never took a chance on myself. Same thing happened with vtubing. I was on 4chan when people found out about the facerig software for the first time. It was the first accessible VTube Studio type of software and it was available right on Steam. This was back in 2015. Like goddamn imagine have that head start in vtubing years before Gawr Gura even came into existence. Again I never took a chance in myself. So if any of you are interested in content creation at all, just fucking do it man. Go with your gut instinct and donโt out things off.

>go to networking events and lick some boots, wagieStreamers are in a cage but don't know it. But they're dont even earn money.
>>715057541Email verification and follower only chat are two very different things psychologically. Email verification is something you do once and you can have access to all email verification needed streams chat. Follower only chat is more like blackmail, you have to personally follow me and be another number increase in my channel before you can chat. And viewers really really hate that.
>friend watches some guy that plays ""scary"" games.

>>715060232>streamers acting fake like this is embarrassingSuccessful streamers are usually fake as fuck. The 'good' channels are usually lost in the shuffle exactly because they didn't put on a fake over the top personality to gain them followers.
>>715058327what does that have to do with anything
>>715058619raid point is fair enough. although i'd say it's just more common in general that most raids are done between streamers who are familiar with each other & have some viewer overlap/interest, so the follow requirement isn't relevant there. but yeah for the rare few streamers who try to help smaller streams grow by raiding them even if they're complete nonamers to them the follow requirement would be an instant roadstopper.
i've never minded follow requirement because you can always unfollow in 2clicks after saying what you needed to say if the channel isn't long-term interesting enough to stay on follow list

i don't think it's a good idea to post your channels here.
firstly, everyone would say that you're a "4channer" which can come back at you years later and bite you in the ass especially if you get relatively popular.
secondly, 4chan is full of weird people. do you want an audience like that? i mean look at some of the posted channels here (furries, vtubers, etc). just imagine if someone like vinesauce was known to be posting on 4chan...
imo, best two things that have already been mentioned here are:
1. join existing small streamer or tuber and participate in the community (commenting, chatting, join discord)
2. viewbot to gain traction but very slowly and carefully.
Gave up on trying to make english LPs. Americans sound like they're always drunk or high on weed. Actually getting wasted during my HoMM3 let's play didn't do much good as I could barely speak native. Spent two hours listening to menu music and went to bed with the realization that it's pointless without the hot potato.
>>715064889Hell yeah, much appreciated anon.
>>715065508posting your channel on /v/ is fine because basically nobody except the genuinely curious will check it out, schizos are more worried about mario or XIV or some shit. definitely don't post on /vt/ though, a small group of people will schizo out over a long list of tubers which the list size is x20 higher than the number of viewers any individual vtuber gets
nobody has ever cared at all about 4chan connections, the moment you get a decent following it'll slide off like rain as long as you don't keep being blatant about it
never viewbot, people WILL find out
>>715065508Anon, stop being scared of 4chan, you giant pussy. There is an enormous amount of regular people that use 4chan. There are so many YouTube channels that do 4chan green text videos with millions of subscribers. This shit is even popular on reddit. 4chan is a normie site like any other. Having people know that you browse 4chan will affect you in literally no way.
>>715015587 (OP)Should have put more points into Charisma and moved some sliders around.

Also doing view ots is bad advice. You're not learning shit about improving your craft if you're taking shortcuts like that.
If it's been a year and you have learned how to make overlays, how to make transitions, how to make voice and audio in general sound crispier, how to smoothly talk with people or with yourself, how to edit your footage to make either long-form content or shorts that you can post in social media, stream regularly or with a schedule and yet after all of that you still have no viewers, then you can maybe consider the option.

>>715058210only thing I hate about follower-only streams is they more often than not have some bot that goes "nigger9001 just subscribed wowzee!!", sometimes with a complementary 5 second stream pause where streamer personally says "oh haiz! welcome nigger nine thousand and one!!"
makes me want to wait for the stream to end before I follow so I can chat next time, at which point it's like "do I really care enough to do that"
long as there's none of that I'm fine with follower only chat, at least it's not fucking phone verification

they've been doen it since the 90s
>>715065984>>715066131>viewbotyou really think you shouldn't do it right away as a way to compensate for zero discoverability on twitch? all you're doing is just moving yourself up the list of 0 view streams so more eyes can see and have a chance to check you out. think of it like paying a premium to promote your ad on ebay. then once you get stable double digit views you can stop viewbotting. it's just a tool is all, no?
>>715066864>makes me want to wait for the stream to end before I follow so I can chat next timeThat's just how I feel about following in general. I get that people like seeing their names and being called out for the follow, but I feel like I'm being pressured into saying something or sticking around
>>715066864yeah i never understood why some people have follower alerts (assuming you meant that and not sub alerts which 90% of streams do and somewhat make sense at least), follow alert on screen and calling viewers out for merely following is just awkward. also yeah follow requirement>>>phone verification, no idea why that one anon was shilling for it so hard when no one likes phone verification for small streams
>>715043761Isn't Kick a viable competitor nowadays?
>>715067726Only, and I really do mean ONLY, if you have a contract with Kick, otherwise it isn't
are there any downsides to youtube vidya streaming?
the only thing i know about is copyright but that should be fine with just gameplay no?
>>715067726Pretty much, but I'd say it's dumb to not multistream. At that point, the issue is just managing chats
I miss doing IRL streams back around 2014 with my shitty-hacky phone stream setup I had. I'd go around abandoned buildings and old abandoned malls and explore them to like 5-10 viewers, sometimes 20. I loved doing cooking streams, just streaming whatever I was doing at the time, sometimes even streaming myself just doing groceries.
>>715067340sub alerts/congrats can get quite annoying too, but at least they're justified:
someone paid for it, let them have their 5 seconds of glory for it
it's the combination of "let's make a big(ger) deal (than it should be) about someone coming out of lurk mode" and "let's routinely interrupt stream for something I've forced to happen if new viewers want to chat" that gets me with follower alerts
and then there's the time I came out of lurk mode watching streamer & their friend, where the friend went
>"hi nigger 9001! I see this is your first comment in chat" >"wtf friend, don't single people out like that" >"but streamer, I want to raise among viewers awareness that we can see that, it's an interesting fact!"I'm still ambivalent on that one. it was annoying sure, but also silly and admittedly good to be aware of
>>715067874Discoverability is worse than Twitch. With Twitch there are at least categories which give you a chance of people finding you. There's nothing like that on YouTube. You're up against the entire site. That being said, if you're genuinely making content on YT and getting subs, then you should absolutely be streaming there on top of streaming to other sites. Chat might be a little delayed, but I think that depends on specific resolutions and ultrawide streams. Copyright you might have to be a little more careful for, but YT has a similar feature to Twitch where it can mute sections of a VOD. Other than discoverability, I wouldn't say there are any particular downsides
>>715068471i have like 5k subs on YT but less than 100 followers on twitch i think
i've just used twitch for streaming since that's what i was used to
but it feels like the site has gotten so big and most people don't even check categories anymore anyway
>>715015587 (OP)I just don't have it in me to yap constantly.
Been considering being a vtuber (male) if only from the technical aspect, Probably won't get far due to it not being cute fat titted woman but it's nice having a project to work on.
i'm concerned that people will find my steam profile, see my friendlist and start harassing my friends.
>>715068624You should absolutely be multistreaming. There's a plug-in in for OBS called Aitum. It just takes your Twitch stream and broadcasts it to YT.
What kind of vids do you make?
>>715068976Just private your profile silly
>>715067874On sheer discoverability, YT is a lot worse, even with tags.
However you can signal boost by use of things like shorts, or making actual videos on top of streaming. You have a few more tools to abuse the algo and wind up in somebodies recommenced screen eventually.
As that other anon said, multi-casting is also a good idea so you don't split your viewer based.
>>715068890Male VTubers are essentially a different genre of chuuba entirely. If you aren't autistic about a specific subject or theme and build your character around that, then its a lot harder.
But its probably easier to be a male ASMRtist which can lead to the normal gamer lyfe of a streamer.
Learn to talk good, yap and get a good mic. You'll need to put some reps into ASMR and maybe voice act a bit, just don't do BFE.
>>715015587 (OP)This is the secret to streaming
>Begin streaming>Activate a small amount of bots slowly over a 3-4 months period (start with nothing, then 10, then 25, then 50, etc)>Gain a tiny amount of actual viewers because your channel can actually be seen in the category you're in and you're not down in the dirt with 0 to 10 viewer channels>Now increase bot numbers by 3 for every actual chatter going forward>Grind hours, as in stream for 8+ hours every single dayThere you go. I do want to try it but there are a few things that are holding me back. Namely being an ESL. I did consider streaming in my language but I'm so disconnected from the audience there that doesn't seem like I'd enjoy it.
Other thing that worries me is the actual games. I could buy a few of the modern ones but pricing aside most don't really interest me so that leaves only emulators or modded consoles and don't know how much trouble would that bring to my door.
>>715071036works for joel, why wouldn't it work for you?
>>715070587You can definitely monetize discord in general. I'm sure you can set it up where paid members get a specific role and that role is the only one that can enter a specific discord stream.
>>715066135I remember streaming some games a couple of times for this place back when twitch was justin.tv and really feeling nice to talk with anons that way.
I'm feeling the same itch right now, maybe I should do a couple of XCOM streams right there.
>>715071036Why would emulation bring problems? Everyone emulates and no one questions it. Emulation is legal, it's a matter of how you got your rom that brings up the legality question.
>>715067165Yeah, I think if you're in this for the long run, you should learn the craft from scratch.
If you're only in this to see number get big and you're gonna abandon it in a week or two, then be my guest.
>>715068212You can still do them. I don't think the market for those kind of streams is as saturated as gaming, for example.
>>715015587 (OP)You can, it's called having friends.
>>715071130I don't know who that is but if his thing is emulated games then I guess I could try it.
>>715071379Second hand market is fucked for some games so I don't think I could always say that "I own my own copy" to avoid getting copyright striked. I'm probably overthinking things.
>>715072376>I'm probably overthinking things. You are. There's literally nothing to be afraid of. You won't get a copyright strikes and no one is gonna call the police. Everyone emulates and a ton of people are fine with outright saying they pirated retro games. I've probably said it myself multiple times
>>715071036Hey, that was may main concern at the start too. I even considered just streaming with my half-assed English.
I ended up streaming in my native language, playing whatever my PC could handle and it turned out fine. Not stellar, but good enough to hit affiliate soon.
During the 1st month nobody really stopped to check me though, but that's fine since it gave me plenty of time to check what's wrong with your setup, fine tune your audio and to acclimate to how much you will cringe at hearing your own voice from a recording.

A streamer will stream from 3 to 8 hours in a day, maybe 3 to 4 days a week. Itโs just logistically impossible to expect them to sit through your own 3-8 hour stream and contribute anything meaningful to chat. At best they put your stream in the background on mute while they do other things. Begging you guys, get the idea that your streamer friends count as viewers. The reality will disappoint you.

Being able to talk through your whole stream is the bare minimum for a streamer. These people donโt have an audience because they donโt deserve an audience. you will never get viewers just going live and playing vidya.
even if you get raided 99% of people will leave instantly because of ad faggotry then the others will leave with in 5 mins tops
even if you play the category game and try to look at numbers and try to be a stream in the first row of a category you wont get viewers.
you need an external driver of some sort like some viral post or a youtube/tiktok following first
>>715077286You would be surprised.
A lot of people only click on a grind game to hear what the streamer's even talking about. If you can keep on yapping during the whole grind, you'll be able to keep a couple of viewers engaged. Some might even talk to you and you can bounce the conversation with them.
>>715077436so i should become a vtuber
>>715075819>could have gotten into it in 2010 when it was brand new and the PC spec needed was more than most people had>the viewer:streamer ratio was goldenbut back then I never understood why you would want to watch someone else talk and play games
>>715077430If you can clearly communicate in English, that's probably the best route to take, since 80% of twitch lurkers understand and consume content in English.
If you want to capitalize in the lesser amount of people watching a certain game in your native language, that's also fine, but it's gonna be a bit harder to get people unless you're streaming in Chinese or Spanish.
>>715077436You're gonna need to stream to get content to edit anyway, so I don't see what's the downside of streaming.
Nobody here ever believes me but I met a really nice girl through streaming. I had zero viewers and she took pity on me and dropped by my stream a few times. Now sheโs my moderator and we regularly play video games on and off stream. Even if no one else is watching my streams and my channel never grows, sheโs still there just hanging out and playing video games with me.

I think the best way to stream is to just never react to chat. The second you start reacting to chat is the second your stream starts to lose its soul, especially if you engage with trolls or faggots. It is profitable to engage with chat though since it fosters that ""relationship"" so idiots are more likely to donate, so it's a big catch 22.
>>715078935You respond to chat in your early days to pay your dues. Once you get big enough, chat will go by so fast it becomes physically impossible for you to respond to anyone. Thatโs the dream.
if you dont have tits you are going to have to actually put a SHIT ton of effort into it and you may not see any results in a decade or at all.
if you have tits you can just use a good camera angle and go live.
>>715079283yes when the chat more or less takes care of its self and the hivemind emote spam when a thing happens.
people dont know how lucky they are to have a chat room like that
>>715079283chat can be fine if there are like... 20 viewers... above that you just KNOW that there will be some retards that slip in, and if the streamer doesn't smite them then it starts ruining the stream. At least that was my experience.
I used to watch this d2 streamer in like 2015 at 2am when he had like 5 - 10 viewers. He was a total shut in but it was cool to just chill in the chat, have him up on the other monitor, and play whatever game or work on my main monitor. He eventually hit it big and the stream started sucking as a result. He realized and quit streaming but still, it sucks
>>715079419I still find it hilarious that Velvet_7 somehow botched her gravy train

>she also had less than 100 viewers at the time
>befriend her and she basically sees me as one of her earliest supporters
>she outpaces my growth and is up to 400 followers and can get 7-15 viewers a stream based on when she starts her stream
>think she has legitimate talent and will probably be a shoe in for Hololive because of her insanely high levels of charisma and her charming foreign accent
Sheโs grown so much even though she sucks ass at promoting her channel. Sheโll basically just stream obscure games and pick up new followers like itโs nothing. Sheโs even had one dude gift 20 subs to her at once, which I believe is about $100 USD. Weโve collaborated a few times, but I just feel like her audience isnโt really interested in my content, for obvious reasons. Kinda wish I had a relationship like this with a male vtuber instead.

>>715080297She's gonna keep on outgrowing you and soon you'll be a nobody to her. Just a stepping stone.

Why don't streamers or youtubers just incorporate and keep all of the revenue earned in the company, and then bill all of their expenses through a corporate account to reduce taxable income? So many of them bitch about the tax rate for being self employed, can't they just avoid it and just not pay out money to themselves other than for shit like housing?
>>715080451Do what I do. Pretend youโre talking to Joe Rogan on his podcast. Just try to avoid talking about Jews and how they basically run every facet of American society. Learned that the hard way.

>>715065508This isn't 2008 anymore, 4chan is no longer the "internet hate machine" Big time internet personalities openly admit to browsing it and so do many vtubers. If anything, there's an untapped market for dedicated streamers/vtubers that instead specifically focus on 4chan and its content, but that would be a difficult niche to occupy given the absolutely insane schizos that stalk these threads.
>>715027032This is a massive cope
>>715027032There's advertising and then there's shilling. You should know what the difference between the two is.

1. You support loli/you are a pedophile.
2. Youโre a racist /pol/tard who voted for Trump.
Part of the reason people wanted to take Internet Historian down are his ties to 4chan. The whole plagiarism shit was just a means to an end. Same with people who have a hateboner for Wendigoon. you're better off whoring yourself to twitter/tiktok/youtube/instagram/anywhere with some kind of algorithm and staying power where people can find your content days/months/years after you post it
when you stream on twitch you're basically praying that people scroll to the bottom of whatever section you're in and click your stream, it's just not going to happen, twitch viewers don't browse twitch like that

>>715057872It's because there's no way around it, as a streamer you're chasing views. Everything else said about it is dancing around the elephant in the room. You don't stream because you don't want to be seen. You're either okay with that and accept it, or you write essays about how that's not really what you're doing that come across as disingenuous. The nervous man in the room sweating because they feel like they're on trial. You don't have to have a guilty conscience about it, some people like streamers and some people don't. You can justify it by saying you just wanted to make friends, you're doing it for yourself, you just want to share your talent with the world, but there are other better ways to do all those things without sitting in front of a live audience. The first step to becoming a good streamer is being honest with yourself and admitting that you are chasing fame. I don't even watch streams but this is the root of it. There are extremely rare cases where people fell into the position and kept doing it because the money was so good but you aren't a statistical anomaly. You're hustling for views. Don't blow smoke up my ass about how this is a loving community of gamer brothers and sisters. It's creepy. You're lying to me. Lying is aggressive.
>>715088426I'd never watch a furry because I can't stand anthro, but best of luck to you al the same.

>>715111690So much of this. I sometimes wonder how many anons seethe about muh eceleb because they just can't into this one little step.
Reminds that there are thousands of streamers who never make it to double digit viewers despite streaming for hours nearly every day. Many of the streamers have better set ups and are more social than you.
Even if you do somehow make it, your fame and income is entirely dependent on the whims of internet viewers. You may think you're not going to be a sell out but you will inevitably have to start appealing to normalfags and staying kosher to keep growing your audience so your fame doesn't die out and you can keep making money as monetization requirements become increasingly draconian. You are nothing more than a street beggar with a broadcast, putting on a desperate performance in hopes of entertaining passerbys enough for them to toss you their change.
Being an e-celeb is a parasitic occupation only for genuinely soulless people. You will deserve all the despair and drama you are going to get.

>>715111920It's fucking the horde of unhinged neets foaming at the mouth to fuck up your day. Sitting there all day in their own filth spamming retarded shit and fucking with your life. Not a lot of people are built for the internet life. It's hell on earth.
>>715112083I am, been basically since I took the job.
still living in same shit apartment since late 2000's because rent was grandfathered and cant be jacked up too much at a time.
my hourly wage is shit, and nearly 50% of my income is lost to taxes one way or another
its all so tiresome
desu i'd love to be able to multi-stream on various platforms on my days off and be able to make enough money to pay for internet.
its not much but it would feel pretty good.
>>715112903based, wagmi bros.
>>715110279Youโre autistic, it literally doesnโt matter what you want in a streamer. A streamer streaming quietly to make one autist happy isnโt going to make up for the ten normal people who click on their channel and the click away because theyโre not talking.
>>715015587 (OP)I keep being told I have a voice for streaming and would make for an entertaining streamer, but I find the idea disgusting.
Don't have another monitor. I can't stream and watch chat at the same time or view streamlabs shit.
>>715113147Enjoy no views, loser.

I love watching low view schizo streamers
>>715113317Use your phone for chat.
>>715110612By following them you are engaging. Youโre basically waving to someone on the street and then freaking out because they waved back to you.
>>715113361Holy fucking unhinged entitlement. Basedgod.
>>715112589vtubers are incredibly susceptible to crashouts for the funniest reasons
>most of them have never watched a twitch stream before>most get into it the same way someone becomes a furry: they wanted their own snowflake avatar>they associate vtubing with streaming so they think they also have to stream and do all this branding shit>waste a shitload of money and then basically don't join any community because they think some good twitter and reddit posts are enough>joins a "vtuber support network" and realizes nobody actually watches each other because they're too busy with their own bullshit>realize you wasted months and thousands of dollars to be a furry in a hobby where everyone just dickrides the top 1% in the hopes of being able to join them instead of trying to find their own lane or niche
>>715113449No, I'm just adding a channel to my list. Probably a low priority backup one at that.
twitch really needs to have an option for silent subbing/following.
>>715113361lmfao I just checked that guy's channel and like the entire vod is just him standing there complaining in twitch chat about twitch dropping his view count or people leaving his stream
peak schizokino
>>715113670True, let's miss the whole fucking point because social autism is real and is uncomfortable to deal with.
>>715113361you could probably get this guy to fight the sun if you tried hard enough
>>715109885Do you know where we are?
>>715113670Quality streamers either kill follow alerts or anonymize them. Well, the big ones do it too because of the sheer volume, but you get the idea.
>>715113361I know a vtuber who is an absolutely unhinged autist.
>has maybe 1 or 2 viewers at most>seen him stream one regular game>the second time I saw him stream was a 2 hour rant attacking a group of more popular vtubers>from what Iโve gathered he wanted to befriend them, probably because he has some autistic crush on one of the girls, but the group pretty much rejected him and it left him furious>his official story is that the group of vtubers are friends because they all got their model from the same artists/company. In vtuber terms theyโre considered siblings. He got a model from the same place expecting this group of friends to just welcome him as well>based on what one of the girls said, she remembered the guy in her chat before under a slightly different name >I put two and two together and came to the conclusion the whole reason he got into vtubing is to get closer to this vtuber girl he used to watch and chat with>keep in mind this guy is fresh in the vtuber/streaming scene. He has almost no followers, hasnโt streamed that much at all and heโs already dropping a 10 page google document explaining how this group of vtuber friends basically bullied him>after this stream he did another 2 hour stream attacking these vtubers >he streamed maybe 3 games afterwards then disappeared for months >he resurfaces of twitter now and then posting art he commissioned of his vtuber model even though he gets zero interactions of twitter, no likes no comments nothing >also fairly recently he went to some post about Guraโs new identity and called her fans weird pedophiles because her vtuber model is a loli and basically called one of the most beloved vtubers in the world boring and cringe and he couldnโt understand why anyone would watch her unless they were a pedo.
>>715113341I actually get viewers because I donโt follow shit advice from retards like you.
>>715114727That dude definitely has a lot of skeletons in his closet.
>>715113670Imagine being to autistic you canโt listen to a streamer say hi to you without pissing and shitting yourself in fear.
>>715113517>>715114727Tack that on too. Some of them get into it because they think it means they can get closer to another vtuber and do weird shit like it's some social isolation escape plan.
>>715088426How much was your model? I wanna be a weird little creature vtuber
>>715115039I usually watch small streamers and every fucking time like 8 people @ me
>>715115350If you pop off this hard why not streamer yourself?
>>715115112You sorta can because of collab culture. Iโve done collab streams with four different girls so far. I could probably do more but Iโve kinda withdrawn from meeting new people. Keep in mind Iโm basically an incel in real life whoโs never had a female friend before. If I can someone convince female vtubers to spend 2-4 hours with me on stream then it canโt be the hard for actually socially well adjusted people.
>>715065508This nigga comes from here and he never hid it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mIs7HBHDvU&t=73s
>girl can stream with 90% of her tits out
>its fine
>try putting a pic of a girl wearing similar clothes in the corner
>get mad views
>get banned for sexual content
>>715115568im not good at games
I dont have a interesting personality
>>715115951Thatโs 90% of streamers.
I could never be a streamer because I literally cannot stop myself from saying slurs the moment I get any sort of anonymity. My internal monologue is screaming nonstop about raping niggers. I would probably start randomly singing confederate war or Boyd Rice songs and get banned within a few hours. I think I might be quite autistic or have something like Tourette's.
>>715113670do when they're offline
I always get my first message cherry popped in offline chat too to blend in
>>715114883Sure you do. Are they from Canada too?
>>715115786What are your/their viewer numbers at if you don't mind my asking? I always thought the lower viewer ones would be way more gung-ho for it until they got tired of it (like you said) and either died out or slowly got big enough they didn't need to collab with anyone.
>>715116507I get 3 viewers on a good night. I just checked their stats and its 9, 10, 7, and 7 CCV. It might not seem like a big difference but it feels like they're worlds ahead of me whenever I lurk in their chats.
>>715116376So it's an over saturated market
I really don't see how the fuck you can start streaming from scratch.
The only way I can see to start streaming is to either have some contacts with bigger streamers or to already have an audience from something else.
I have considered making a youtube gaming critic channel only so I can get some followers and start streaming.
But I was too lazy and perfectionist (I didn't want to make a complete slop) and couldn't finish my script.
>>715117547>install software>join discords and socialize>hang out on low number streams>go live>be consistent>????>profit >>715117547>and perfectionist This is a cope. The reality is you just start and learn by doing. You will suck a lot until you suck a little less. JUST DO JUST GO DO. This entire thread holy fuck me.
>>715117547>I really don't see how the fuck you can start streaming from scratch.Generally speaking, you can't. Twitch isn't built for people without an audience. People always say you need to round up your audience somewhere else. Though funny enough I see YouTubers like YaBoyRockLee who has 175k YouTube subscribers only managing to get 6-8 viewers on Twitch when he stream alone. Not 6-8k, just 6-8 viewers. So I don't know who to believe anymore.
>>715117547viewbotting is basically allowed as long as you down show the software or acknowledge it
>>715117872>>join discords and socializenta but that part sounds like hell. Not like I'm some sperg who can't socialize but I hate discords.
>>715118367It is hell. It's a place where everyone is bottomfeeder with a giant ego. Only way I can cope is to shitpost.
>>715117872>This is a cope. The reality is you just start and learn by doing.I get it, I don't expect to make something on par with the people I admire (Matthewmatosis), but I at least expect to make something I'm proud of.
I could write a fucking Wikipedia summary tier script in a couple hours, but that gay and retarded.
I just lost motivation after writing around 19 pages of (imo) high quality script, and still being only halfway through.
>join discords and socializeI hate to socialize, I hate people and I hate discord.
I find the idea of streaming appealing because I don't have to treat the viewers as people.
>>715117980A lot of older youtubers have a lot of "dead subs". Also there are a lot of decent youtubers that kinda suck as streamers, and because of that end up with a smaller audience on twitch. Some big examples are Dunkey and GirlfriendReviews.
On the other hand you have people like Joseph Anderson which end up being better streamers than youtubers.
>>715036582Tranny model tranny voice
Is it literally impossible to find a manly straight man vtuber?
>>715118883Manly straight men don't go into vtubing
>>715118490Yeah I figured. In order to keep going when you're that small a streamer you either have to actually enjoy what you're doing for the act alone or be delusionally overconfident.
>>715111119>it's particularly entertaining to watch someone run in circles and I'm no good at solo easter eggs either.Yeah, I usually leave those streams playing in the background as just noise while doing something else really. I feel it's much more fun playing with friends or randoms instead as it serves as an space to talk about the most random and unrelated stuff while trying to survive.
i wish i could stream but i'm afraid of getting interrupted by my relatives which makes me angry.
>>715077930no one watches your shitty gameplay videos
>>715086515>Part of the reason people wanted to take Internet Historian down are his ties to 4chan. The whole plagiarism shit was just a means to an endNo I'm pretty sure it's because he turned out to be a faggot plagiarist.

>>715119734already have one...
>>715119921big if true.
>>715113361It's kind of sad actually. This schizo autist must be so starved of attention and human connection.
>>715086515Nah, IH larps as someone who doesn't give a fuck and is simply having fun during the journey of creation, but this revealed the truth. He a full on bitch. Still watch all 3 channels tho.
I hang out in small streams/offline chats all the time.
I occasionally stream and still get 0 viewers

The last time I actually enjoyed streaming was back in justin.tv days. I only ever had a few people join in to watch random DBZ episodes
