I replayed platinum after playing some rom hacks and pokerogue which had a bullshit end game and it was really funny how pathetic these games are and I get that’s the point but damn, only the champion has a team with 6 mons and they have shitty movesets except for the Garchomp. Give Gastrodon toxic, ice beam and leftovers, then set up a bit against her own Gastrodon or Milotic. You can kill them with Toxic and then one-shot the Garchomp with ice beam.

That's what I did when I did a poison team run last year or so except with Tentacruel instead of Gastrodon. But it should still work, you just need to use items instead of barrier.

Well there's two main reasons for them to exist.
Firstly they're good bossmons for the endgame as you can see from nearly every champion using one.
Secondly it's a good endgame failsafe if you're having trouble with the game and don't want to use an outright legendary, you can spend hours grinding up a pseudo instead.

Yes, vanilla Platinum has more pokemon available in general. Gliscor early game is a massive change to the experience. It also does a visual overhaul in a couple of places so it looks less basic if it makes any sense.
