Accuracy is the worst "feature" to ever make it into an RPG.
Its bad in morrowind, its bad in xcom, its bad in FE, and its bad in every single JRPG.
It is a poor attempt to add elements of surprise to a battle system, but it leaves everything up to luck instead of skill or strategy. surrounding a unit just to have all 3 units miss an accuracy check and fail the mission isn't the game having you adjust your strategy on the fly or testing your pre-battle preparation, it's kicking you in the nuts for no fault of your own

>MISS
>>715035284 (OP)>it leaves everything up to luck instead of skill or strategy. All of the games you listed have means of turning the odds in your favour. You want a game without misses because you refuse to play the game properly.
Then you just don't like RPGs.
Pillars of Eternity removed "Misses" from the equation. They replace it with a "Glancing hit" which basically just did 1 HP worth of damage. It actually made me angrier to see a Glance compared to seeing a Miss, because a Glancing Hit feels like a participation prize. "Oh you TRIED to hit, so here, you hit for 1 HP!" Man, fuck you.
>>715035284 (OP)skill issue
it isn't an "element of surprise" it's the ruleset that everyone adheres to. skilled players can go through entire xcom campaigns hardcore ironman because they properly mitigate risk
>>715035284 (OP)Without an element of randomness strategy just turns into puzzle.
There are puzzle games go play those.
It's bad in real time combat. It's fine in turn based combat.
t. someone that got fucked over with a miss in xcom despite 99% hit chance
>enemy misses me
haha get fucked!!
>I miss enemy
noooo thisis bullshit the game sucks!
>>715035552>tactical breach wizards>look inside>no tacticsfucking scam. pretty sure the devs were /agdg/ too
>>715035614This is what it ultimately boils down to. Unless a game legitimately cheats in favor of the enemies, then things are fair and the player can get the upper hand with gear, skills, talents, etc. People tend to remember the bad things that happen to them more than the good things.
Miss
