8 was so comically bad and so many people played it and saw it suck balls that it might've finally killed Yakuza. What were they thinking setting it in Hawaii, it's ended up being Gaijins are silly: The game.

Yakuza games dont have a ton of replay value once you play one for a 100 or so hours.
Its a linear JRPG whit a set story and a ton of side activities.
Not choice based rpg whit multiple builds you can play.
Its why trey release a new one each year.

Only difference between regular Yakuza games and the so called real "JRPG" ones is the turn-based combat.
By that logic alone it would mean that Kingdom hearts or Tales of games are not JRPGs.

Not surprising. It was a cult series that had some minor success and then got quite big quite quickly following 0's release on a Steam as a budget title as it became briefly fashionable amongst Twitch streamers since LOL SO WACKY JAPAN shit was in-vogue at the time

Look at how many Yakuza games there are, and how they were localized or ported back to back in response to 0's success. You're going to see fans burn out.

Have you played them? They're not action games, you pick commands from a menu in them. By your logic DMC is a JRPG because it has loot, leveling and dungeons
Stranger than Heaven is the last shot I'm giving them. The quality has declined with each yakuza game since Nagoshi left (actually a bit before that)
7 was good, but 8 was a bloated mess with an awful story. Pirate Yakuza is a mess. Gaiden was good but 8 then ruined the characterisation from Gaiden. Judgment 1 was great, Lost Judgment was great gameplay wise but the story suffered, and Judgment 3 never ever.
