Why do zoomers get filtered by tank controls so hard? It takes like 5 seconds to learn and get used to

To be fair we had games like the original tomb raider to get used to that style. Tank controls are usually used in high stress games and they have no time to get used to it

It takes a lot more than that to get used to.
I first played RE1 in 2017 in anticipation of the RE2 board game, and it took me a several minutes to get a handle on the controls, and at least an hour of starting and resetting before I did well enough that I felt comfortable making my first save.

Zoomers typically can't handle different control schemes since nearly every game nowadays plays almost the exact same.

Fuck off, tank controls were dogshit even back then. It's a technical limitation of the era, not a well designed way to control your character. I fucking know becaue I played games back then on my PS1. Crash Bandicoot had better 3rd person controls than, say, RE1

I'm all for defending tank controls, but this image does not make much sense. Actually, one of the advantages of tank controls is that you don't have to consider perspective since movement is relative to the player rather than the camera. It's the fixed camera system itself, not the controls, that could cause someone to become disoriented.

Fixed camera angles need tank controls in order to perform well. In a game where your perspective is constantly changing you want movement to be relative to the player, not the camera.

I think tank with quick turn is the best, RE3 feels much better to play than RE2. Also maybe its cause I only revisit these games every few years, I always run into walls or hug shit awkwardly as I try to go forward and turn
