Can you guys just admit that the nostalgia you have for pre-Druckmann Naughty Dog is totally fake? You guys hated the Uncharted series. So, don't say le Amy Hennig was based, & that Druckmann kicked her out. Also, you guys hated the Jak series. Complaining about how they're too hard, and they were chasing trends. The only Naughty Dogs /v/ liked were the Crash series and maybe the first Jak.

great first game ruined by a trend chasing but still decent sequel
art direction and worldbuilding carried the IP
Daxter spinoff is still the best game in the IP because it's made by another studio that understood what made Jak good in the first place

It got dark, but the way they handled it in terms of narrative, art design, gameplay and tone was so consistent that the tonal shift was fantastic.
It added to the original instead of being something completely different.

The Jak series is kinda disappointing though. Well, it's not that bad, Jak 1 is quite good and Jak 2 is alright but 3 was so fucking boring even if it made some improvements. Never played X, Daxter or The Last Frontier.
Jak 2 was self admitted trend chasing from the devs themselves but that's not necessarily a bad thing but I didn't feel like it did anything interesting with the GTA3 inspiration.

The Lost Frontier is very bad apparently, though I never played it. Jak X is weird. Its not a very good driving game compared to main competition, but its not "bad" bad. If you can take it for what it is, ie a quick and cheap spinoff, and want to see more of Jak in Jak´s world (racing through Spargus city, Forbidden temple and more) it can be enjoyable for one playthrough. Its quite short too.

There are couple missions that you can actually fail if you don´t try your best, which means its heads and shoulders above average video game difficulty. I think the meme comes more from the fact that rest of the missions are normal video game difficulty and those couple are obvious outliers. Also, they are actually difficult on Hero Mode.

Druckmann didn't actually write it.
He did some preliminary stuff when it was in dev at Naughty Dog, and what he had written was kept for when dev was cancelled before being transferred to High Impact Games.
We already know what was written, which was

Jak 3 is probably my favorite game of all time and I spent hundreds of hours playing it as a kid. Pretty much everything they've made outside of the Jak franchise sucks though, sure.

Naughty Dog's fame comes specifically from the situation they found themselves in, being a Sony exclusive developer making their games necessary to bloat up the appeal of Sony. But anyone with common sense got into Sony's consoles for third party games like Metal Gear and Resident Evil.

Fast forward to current day and the situation has NOT changed. Sony's consoles are all about getting first release dibs on games like Resident Evil 9 and Metal Gear Delta. The only thing that has changed is Naughty Dog has embraced becoming shitty with their new ugly dyke shit movie Intergalactic. The turret mission is the sole only “poorly designed” part of the game.
The tank mission isn’t even that bad, you just need to be patient and keep an eye on the level and the crosshairs. The sewer escort mission isn’t hard at all, you just need to be quick. The races are hard but they’re at least kinda fun.

Crash and Jak were made for the most casual audience possible. They LITERALLY copied Disney gimmicks to appeal to the most wide crowd possible. TLOU is actually divisive. Jak were always normie friendly casual titles you could create. There's a reason why so many people think Jak, Sly and Ratchet were made by the same people.
