We know the shadow crystal of ch2 was inside the NEO body, not something Spamton generated. So the FRIEND face we saw there may have been coveting it, or had already planted it, watching for the sweet chaos, Chaos!
But one more thing worth noting is FRIEND has one less appendage than Endogeny. The result is that FRIEND resembles a hand, possibly connecting it to all the Kris hand stuff. But also, making it possible the entity referred to in BIG SHOT. The one who "pulls the strings and makes them ring".
