Miyamoto's basically retired anyway, so it's hardly much of a loss if he officially announces it. But yeah, his death is going to destroy a lot of people, no matter how contrarian /v/ might get about it. But the biggest reason why I would be sad is that if he retired now he would be retiring at a low point of his career. Morrowind is probably still my favorite game of all time. I don't expect him to meet or surpass that bar ever again but ending his run on Starfield and possibly a shitty Elder Scrolls 6 would be genuinely painful.
