Nothing to cope about. Wuk was written out of the patch, Sphene got good characterization, the raid was fun and the raid story was well told. OC has been pretty good, haven't tried the tower yet.
Only complaint I have is that the phantom jobs should have more abilities and unique animations.

Disagree, Solution 9 is the only part of Dawntrail I'm interested in. Tuliyollal was too perfect and boring imo. S9 is a eutopia at first glance but a total dystopia beneath the surface. The story there being more interesting even during the shitty 7.0 story.

No, but we can guess. At the start of the game Eorzea is considered a dangerous, uncivilized shithole where people are regularly killed by monsters. Gridania has a strict population cap enforced by the Elementals, Limsa Lominsa has very limited living space, Ishgard is in the midst of a famine and permawinter that most likely killed a good chunk of its rural population that used to work the farms. Ul'dah would have the largest population in Eorzea, but it's only a fraction of the size of Solution 9. Just go there and look off into the distance, it's MASSIVE.

I don't think it should require doing side content, but I think it should be developed with the expectation that players have done the side content. Have a little notice on quests that reference back to something you haven't done to tell you which quest you haven't done for it.

Eorzea is literally the Africa of the world. They don't even have roads. And if you go around and do FATEs you'll see normal people constantly struggling just to get through their daily lives without being killed by bandits or roaming monsters. The whole concept for the setting from the start was that Eorzea was relatively backwards.

Solution 9 is huge, but remember that it's birthrate is incredibly low, the children are born with lightning aids, and they've been culled twice since the WoL arrived. Both times the people of S9 were protected by the Scions, who were only on the one layer you visit.

I think the only ones I'm not super wild about are Gunbreaker's and Viper's. Gunbreaker is a second try at Flame Saber from FF8, already done by the artifact armor's own weapon Chastiefol, while Viper's too similar to the basic swords you get and to the Sargatanas swords with the artifact armor. Neither are bad, but they're just do-overs of the artifact armor weapons.

I like more understated relics that look like functional but embellished weapons, like the relics in XI. I really don't like the usual style of relics which just look like a mess of random impractical forms glowing with inexplicable neon lights.

Nah, Eorzea was much darker in both JP and EN during 1.0. The Eorzea you know from ARR is Disneyfied compared to 1.0 even with Koji still maintaining some of the original feel. It was supposed to be a very gritty place compared to the rest of the world outside it which was much more advanced because of Garlemald's influence. The highly dense aether from Silvertear also resulted in bigger, scarier monsters than anywhere else. And the Elementals were a lot more active, making ventures into the Shroud which is almost a whole third of the map almost suicidal.

The Everkeep is massive but the residential district(Solution 9) is only the 9th floor. Also they were entirely self sufficient in the time bubble for 30 years so it’s not like the increased population is going to wreak havoc on the planet’s resources

It sounds cooler than it turned out to be. Gil Toss is an extra GCD you slide into your buff window because it's on a two minute cooldown. Quick is cool. The only thing Slow is really good for are trash mobs in Forked Tower since it can't land on bosses, not even FATE bosses.

Yeah, I was extremely excited for the phantom jobs but most of them ended up missing the mark. Like Chemist doesn't even use Mix, it just has a GCD X-Potion, X-Ether, Revive, and a Megalixir that costs 30k gil. Berserker and Oracle are a lot of fun though.
