LMAO. I remember Battle Brothers having a funny way to fight piracy. In the pirated version you could only recruit thieves.

I think it has more to do with lack of motivation than coding skill. Dude makes stupid amounts of money streaming and doing youtube, he just loses money working on a passion project

It reminds me of streamers saying "type 1 in the chat if ___"

>whining that balatro was poorly coded
iirc they were complaining about the 4,000-odd line long if-tree that handled card behaviors. Which is something a lot of people might object to, but it's actually the simplest way to address the fact that you have many cases for hundreds of jokers. You could try and abstract things and categorize that functionality into files, but then you have thousands of files instead.

Pirate Software doesn't know that Booleans exist.

Up until 2021 Gamemaker was owned by a gambling company called Playtech and they'd use the engine to create gambling games.
This is why Gamemaker is actually pretty good, it was developed by people who make and publish games.

Also, people who make gambling games generally have to be pretty proficient and precise in their execution, since screwing up the logic of the odds of a game is grounds for legal punishment and games have to have fast turnaround to keep people playing.

It’s code, it doesn’t matter how it’s actually laid out provided whatever it’s running works. I’ve been working on my game for years and never did any advanced coding for it, all blueprint and runs great for its graphics on any decent graphics card.

This guy was getting no views until he started making vids on Pirate Software. It's just to make the audience feel a part of the show. He's going to be doing it regardless.
