This happens to you? Usually everyone just immediately becomes defensive and somewhat passive aggressive. They lob jokes to distract from their lesser performance.

got burnt out on overwatch pretty quickly, but having a teammate thank you as mercy and flying away with a "you're welcome" voice line felt great. i think every co-op game should include them.
