Nope, it's just a bunch of disconnected random events taped together with the hope schizos will make theories about it.

It's a product of its era, when word of mouth/random forums were more prevalent and information wasn't as widespread so the mystery was interesting, plus the atmosphere was cool

I mean its free it costs nothing (but time) and kinda, if you like walking simulators but this one was made at a time when everyone was using RPG Maker to make Final Fantasy VII part 2 and shit like that. So the concept of using it to make a dream simulator was unheard of.
