Because none of them has a strong defining character. In order to appeal to everyone, the dev made some of the most inoffensive companions ever which also make them forgettable. Everyone are bi and ready to have sex thus making them basically the same character with difference skins.

The only one that isn't is ironically the one character they almost didn't include as a companion in the game - minthara

And that's because her story, unlike that of almost every other companion, actually runs alongside yours. From her failure/success at the druid grove, to the misery, torture, and betrayal in the tower, to her path of redemption and survival at your side. She feels like an actual character with a meaningful story that was part of what you also go through when you play the game, not a mary sue just conveniently dropped into the universe for your sake.

It also didnt help you could take your whole party to act 2 and beyond

If they had personalities that made it impossible to gain the full party (like I did in my first run) then yes, they'd be infinitely more memorable, except most people dont play games repeatedly
As for me, ive already got homicidal plans for most of my party, with a focus on bending some, leading others to a dark path and completely breaking others when the diq fag finally makes his mod list compatible with patch 8

Minthara was alright but you have to metagame or play as chaotic stupid to get her. Overall this game's writing really fails to create any sense of there being a larger world, and something about how the companions were written reeked of millennial writer's obsession with trauma. The only time I legitimately cared for any of the characters was when Karlach gets upset about how she's going to die. The VA did a good job and her dialogue actually expressed the proper emotions through tone instead of just the characters dryly explaining how they are weepy faggots. I just could not give a shit about the bitching and moaning of the others. I get the feeling for a lot of younger writers, the only thing which inspired them is their daddy issues. All the characters have le tragic backstories but the way they talk about themselves, its almost like you're having a little therapy session with them, or like the writers are going down a checklist of how mentally damaged people act. Boring.

Something that has been bugging me recently, I played a few hours of origin Gale and Wyll, so Gale gets his cool magical cat familiar and Wyll has the whole thing with Mizora, I feel that makes them more interesting than playign a custom character in their class, if you are a warlock you patron is a non entity in the game, I don't know, just feels cheated out of the the RP potential.
