Yes it is a real fun game. Everyone sucks at it at first, so yes getting good is the right approach. Enjoy anon! And I think the DLC is worth its price too, so I would recommend playing that when you get much, much, much further into the game.

I haven’t played it either, it just seems like a big commitment. The world is too big and even bigger with the dlc that is supposedly very worth playing

That’s a literal 100 hour campaign. And I’m tired of open world games

Maybe next year

Don't play it until you've beaten Elden Ring and SOTE. It's fun but all the content except for the nightlords and the roundtable stuff is from those games and some DS games. Plus it's multiplayer (you can play it solo but it's much more fun multiplayer) so you don't wanna be weighing the team down by being the one person who played it without beating elden ring :)

Some modders are starting to port over the Nightreign characters into the game with their movesets and faster speed. The Reforged mod also has Turbo Mode which makes everything 20% faster and it's a lot of fun, especially when combined with the Deflection mod.

Convergence is more of an overhaul of the world with big changes to dungeons and being able to teleport between Minor Erdtrees while Reforged is an overhaul of the combat and mechanics of the game. I prefer Reforged's changes, the added difficulty options, turbo mode, all the little changes that I literally wanted while playing vanilla, all make it hard to play any other mod now.

My first playthrough I ignored the direction the game tried to lead me in and pumped the arcane stat. I felt assured like DS3's luck stat I would be rewarded eventually for my perseverance. Sure enough I found an arcane scaling straight sword fairly early on. Too bad when the game launched Arcane scaling was broken so for half the game I'm running around thinking this thing fucking blows. At least the dragon abilities were cool.

I mean the real thing I lucked out on was being a bleed machine because of my stat allocation. That was kind of neato. Wasn't planning on my first character rolling around with that giant mushroom hat that gives you the buff if you cause poison/rot/bleed, but it ended up being a fun first playthrough.

The whole point of the first two bosses you are presented with after emerging into limgrave is basically to let you know that you absolutely do not have to actually follow the grace lines and should fuck around and see what you can find on your own and come back when you're stronger. Not that these bosses can't or shouldn't be fought immediately, they're just intentionally overtuned for a brand new character.

I played them in order and to me each one seemed harder than the previous one. each new game invents new ways to catch you off guard, none of the blind playthroughs have been easy. I'll say this about ER though, it could very well be the easiest if you use the spirit ashes, it's something I'd like to test one day actually, do a full spirit run.

worst for a new player is bandit
second worst is probably wretch because you are more squishy.

Bandit is still decent if you already know how to play the game though. and wretches starting weapon is actually good for a lot of the game if you upgrade it.
warrior is good but maybe doesnt have a weapon art that carries as hard as others.

Every other class is good just because it starts with a good weapon art.

NTA but It'd be hard to do that since Elden Ring can either be the hardest or easiest since you get a ton of powerful stuff, but being a "claymore andy" (term I made up for the typical knight build who just uses their sword and nothing else while wearing medium armor) is still viable. Elden Ring and SOTE have some of the hardest bosses without a doubt, and you'll experience that at least once if you have no plan to change your build to accommodate for a boss. If you REALLY don't want to deal with them and still win, there's so many ways to do that. In DS1, if you were stuck on something, your methods to make it easier were a lot more limited even if the challenges in that game were generally easier than Elden Ring's. Like Ornstein and Smough, if you're stuck there your options are to:
>summon Solaire (if you didn't fuck up lol) with his sign in the most inconvenient spot ever that will force you to kill the giants nearby so he can get through the fog wall and hopefully he won't die too soon
>summon another player which could be a lot easier but you still risk getting invaded, and both this and solaire require a resource with humanity and buff the bosses' HP
>upgrading another weapon in your inventory and hoping you have the stats for it, because there's no respec so if you don't you gotta grind
>if you don't have the weapon you want, hope it's in anor londo because taking a pretty long trip
Meanwhile in Elden Ring
>Use spirits to summon powerful allies based on enemies that can be upgraded and don't buff the bosses' HP, even the worst of them are much better than the average solaire summon except for some meme ones that are obviously meme ones
>summon another player right outside the boss fight with very few exceptions, this buffs the boss HP and costs a very common resource but players can be OP
>POTENTIALLY easily upgrade weapons in your arsenal and if you don't have one, fast travel exists so getting it won't be as slow as the DS1 equivalent

Easy.
I'd say DeS is considerably easier than 1, though. DeS has practically zero traps outside of 4-1, you can carry an absurd amount of healing items on you, you've got immediate obvious freedom in choosing which worlds you clear in which order so if you ever hit a wall you can just go somewhere else, and even though DS1 enemies aren't the toughest by a longshot they still are generally more threatening than what DeS throws at you.

>I finally got around to play this and i'm ADDICTED.

I fucking love Elden Ring, too.
I was initially hesitant 'cause it "wasn't Dark Souls" (big fan, big lore guy, big story guy), but then Elden Ring managed to rope me in and I ended up obsessing over it more than Dark Souls. I love all the characters, the factions, all the interesting races/species, the fact reality is dictated by a fucking rune, the racism sub-plot, and the planet keeps getting harassed by aliens. Love it. Really interesting setting. I'd love to see more. With that said, I'm always shocked to see people getting filtered by Elden Ring's lore/plot because 'comparatively' it's probably the least obtuse Fromsoft game.

Really glad to hear you're enjoying it, Op.

>i suck at it but i want to git gud

A surprising number of enemies can't handle jumping attacks and jumping. Most aoe attacks can just be jumped over. Don't be afraid of weapon arts.
Most every boss (with the exception of Crucible Knights and most Dragons) is susceptible to status effects: bleed, poison, rot, frost.

I also started playing Elden Ring a few weeks ago and I have to say that it's insanely overrated. It peaks at Stormveil Castle, but all areas after it are just meh. And the ammount of recycled content is crazy.
I heard about the copy and past bosses, but I had no idea that it's this bad. Have fun battling the same Dragon or Giant Serpent 20 times.
Obviously not a bad game, but DS3 is better.

I like to guard counter, I like that many more enemies can be parried, I like deflect, I like that my attacks can put me airborne or in a low state giving further ways to avoid damage, I like having a reason to use charged R2 when there's a big opening, I like the return of powerstance, I like magic being fun, I like weapon arts being fun.

This one is in DS3 at least.

Really wish DS3 had a vanilla friendly guard counter and stance break mod. The mechanics are part of champion's ashes but that mod is bloated.

I also miss the long range lock-on when replaying the old games. that, the static estus and the lack of a jump button fuck me up every time but you get used to it rather quick.

the enemies, with exception of the mounted bosses, aren't designed around torrent's movement
if he had the same poise or hyperarmor while attacking there'd be no reason to fight anything in the open world without him, which would hurt you when you were no longer allowed to use him

Worst part about DS3 is how everything after Vordt, until Sulyvahn, is just pretty bad. Abyss Watchers are alright but the areas around him are bad.

It's not clunky. It's boring. I did a DS3 boss arena mod run and it's all roll + L1/R1 spam except for the very few bosses you can parry.

Just FYI, Shields are extremely strong in Elden Ring, don't overlook them

>COLOR? WHY WOULD YOU NEED COLOR!?
ugliest souls game, it has its moments, but the section you described is why ive only played it twice, and the replay had a reshade applied

You're not really meant to kill him right away, per se. Go adventuring and level up and such, the come back and beat him a little later. Elden Ring is good because you can go adventuring instead of just grinding to level up.

Bad move. Abuse the absurdly strong shields and shield skills that also let you counter enemies while whiping their stamina.
