FFVIIRemake
FFVIIRemake
md5: 7528f18831bc875049137312576fe12e๐Ÿ”
FF7 Remake project was doomed from the start
>Nojima brain rot, the guy who had Tidus mistakenly kicking a mine and dying
>Being forced to take into consideration all of that garbage that was produced since the release of the OG
>Unreal Engine which let them scramble for shitty outsourced assets and it shows
>Inconsistent art direction due to compilation shit
>Cowardice either from writers or wanting to meet pg13 such as goo blood, barely any real havoc when the plate falls down etc
Had it been produced 2009-2012 it would have most likely been better.

unironically a beat for beat remake true remake with improved graphics, bugfixes, and a handful of new side quests/equipment/materia would have mogged the shit out of the "remake(s)" we got. like literally the exact same mechanics, maps, and script (with some typos fixed).

no, i'm not joking.

I think this character is the best example of everything that's wrong with the new content in Remake. Most people could get behind the addition of SOLDIERs being dispatched to track down Cloud & CO. But what we end up with is fuckin Roche. Completely utterly mind boggling levels of retardation

I thought Nojima's writing was actually really good in this, especially the character dialogue. The plot has a lot of retarded bullshit but the actual writing is really solid. I had the same impression as >>715145557 that he was washed up but this game changed that. It was also the first time I actually experienced Nojima's writing in japanese. So that may be a good clue to what exactly happened since then that made me think his writing went to shit.

I don't mind Compilation shit. More boss fights is a good thing. Granted, what wasn't so great was having to pay extra for him AND needing to play through Yuffie's boring ass sidestory.

I wouldn't mind more returning bosses from the Compilation. They don't need to be important to the story, but some of them have cool designs and/or concepts.

Some of the story decisions were pretty fucking questionable though. Cloud and company fought off giant fucking monsters and can easily take down third class SOLDIERs, yet a bunch of retarded thugs easily took them down and knocked Cloud out, all just to force him to take part in the Chocobo Race.

Nojima's fine as writer, he just does the scenario based on the concepts he gets delivered to him. The idiotic ideas come from the Kitase/Nomura/Toriyama side.

Right, I think a lot of people who blame everything on him don't understand how writing works in this industry, especially on the japanese side, more often than not. Even the original FF7 has "Based on a story by Testuya Nomura" in the credits. The writer is the guy whose job is to turn the broad strokes story into a script. The good character moments even Remake haters praise and say those should stay even if the retarded plot shit was excluded? Those were Nojima.

Most criticism about this game flies off the rails and starts incorporating everyone's own pet peeves. I suggest that these are the biggest reasons FF7R hasn't been a major success, especially after Rebirth being a GOAT FF:
>Remake had too much padding. The way it hid loading screens blended in with its cookie-cutter side quests.
>A game titled "Remake" was only the first part of a trilogy, which angered and confused people. Remake should've been called Rebirth, and Rebirth something else.
>Rebirth should've put just a smidge of more effort into its radio towers and life springs. If there was a gameplay component to them, it would've deterred the kneejerk criticism they attract.
Basically, what I'm saying is that the action combat and story changes aren't what's materially deterring customers.

That was the main thing that made me give up on it. Every decision to "expand" on the world/story just seemed so utterly meaningless and made every section grating because it dragged on to much.

Reminds me a lot of the failed Hobbit trilogy. The basically copied every same bad decision.

Let's be honest: the radio towers has no reason to exists, other than a background element. Like the benches scattered around, in order to reconceive the concept of the Tent, in the original game. They should have considered the Tent item in a more reasonable way and let the player use the town inns more, like it was in the OG. Pratically the towns are useless, other than checking for new quests. All the items/armors/weapons they sell are already on the characters backpack. The item-creation part should have been different, with the possibility to produce buff and debuffs that was only achiavable in that way.

No, I have to say that Remake is not that bad, for it still keeps the "investigation thriller" part of the original game and the ambience are well conceived. Then there's people that doesn't like the new soundtracks, but it doesn't matter. I don't really like the new story changes they made in the old plotline, like Aerith not openly fall in love with Cloud, submerging Marlene with questions about him, for instance. But for the rest, there's some parts that was turned into an annoying pointless maze (like the one where you have to switch on the lamps), and that's ok. But for the rest it is not that bad.
In my opinion, the devs should have been more bold and turn it in a +18 game, with more realism, blood and in order to justify even potential sex scenes (like they did in FF16). Keeping the game for youngsters only ruined it, for the original story is a very serious one, not for Nicklodeons watchers.

It wasn't to hide loading screens, people keep parroting it without using their eyes. There are long drawn out lever pulling animations with an unstoppable Red going to the other side to lower the bridge for you that only let you walk a few steps to a place you can already see and only spawns a couple of enemies. They do that shit because they think it's "cinematic." FF16 is full of it and it was a PS5 exclusive, the actual loading times in that game are blazing fast, and it still has all of the retarded slow squeeze through animations that got popular since The Last of Us. Maybe they started to hide loading, but the people who kept copying them were enchanted by the visuals, not the practical purpose.

Rebirth is more bad and with scarse quality compared with Remake. Maybe some of the town reconstruction can pass and be appealing, but all the rest they added, is just stupid and this because all the original feeling of the game has been lost. You're just there, roaming around with "your beloved FF7 characters", like someone wrote about the fact that the fans doesn't care about quality, but just to pass more time with their "beloved characters", but all the original feeling present in the OG plot has been almost lost, and this because the devs wanted to keep their foot in too much shoes at the same time.
