Final Fantasy 6 thread
Tell me your favorite character and esper
Terra, Celes and Cyan are my favs
>>715145517 (OP)I don't know their names because I input custom names like the game intended.
>>715149235the game tells you their names in the ending
>>715145517 (OP)Sabin and Edgar is objectively the best charaters in the game for how busted they are for mob fights and how early/often you need to use them.
I wish Seltzer was better because his story is one of the better ones but i'm not a fan of randomness in rpgs. Cyan is another one I wish was better but his special attacks are just bad and boring to wait for.
I always liked Mog in battle. A Genomancer/Dragon who can hit max defense and be rendered unkillable if you pair him with the paladin shield and a safety bit.
Green hair is always the best.
>>715145517 (OP)Fav characters: Setzer, Locke, and Strago.
Fav Espers: I would say Gilgamesh and Cactaur but if we're talking just the original then Zona Seeker, Ragnorak and Crusader. God this game had so many cool summons that I wish showed up in later games, even if they were just used as bosses or something.
>>715149235 Based. Thatโs the real old-school experience-naming Terra something like โMommyโ and forgetting whoโs who by the time the World of Ruin hits. Though I still remember calling Edgar โChainsawโ because thatโs all I ever used him for.

>>715152137Gau is the great filter.
Great base stats, and some of the Rages are absolutely busted. He's a fucking powerhouse.
>>715145517 (OP)Mr. Thou. Terra is my favorite esper.
>>715154159But I couldn't also go without mentioning Gogo.
>>715145517 (OP)Sabin and Edgar

>>715145517 (OP)Leotard Fantasy VI
>>715145517 (OP)Favorite character is probably Kefka overall, but if you mean among my party members I'd say either Cyan or Sabin. Cyan for his character arc and Sabin for his personality and banter.
Favorite esper is a tough one, as I haven't played in a long time. I always thought Maduin looked cool. Also Tritoch and Odin. If Terra counts in her Esper form then she is easily my favorite Esper.
>>715157527I hate how much the amped up - dare I say Flanderized - the clown aspect of Kefka. He's too goofy in the modern media.
>>715157172>one faces her worst nightmares, gets over a suicide attempt, chases an equally damaged dude she fell for>another runs away to bumblefuck nowhereNah
>>715145517 (OP)these girls look like nortubel characters
>>715157790You know damn well that's an unfair summary of Terra's arc.
>>715152137Gau was a good kid. Shame about his old man.
>>715157725I could not agree more. I'd say Dissidia is the worst thing that ever happened to Kefka with regards to his design and characterization becoming way too far with his goofy and demented aspects, completely overshadowing the snarky, haughty, cruel Court Magician vibe he had in the original FF6. Like, fucking fart jokes?
i honestly don't care much for ff6 but terra and celes are very cool.
it's also criminal how little fanart there is of esper terra.
>>715157893Terra believes that children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way
>>715145517 (OP)Why the fuck did gestahl dress his top 3 elite knights in leotards and a clown suit?
>>715145517 (OP)Did you photoshop their noses off
>>715158650And yet she has no children herself. Curious.
>>715158705Terra wasn't one of his elite knights. She was the empire's witch, more a magical weapon than anything. Kefka would cook you alive from the inside if you called his flashy and elegant garments a "clown suit". As for Celes, I have no clue lol
>>715158885She's had a lot going on lately.
>>715158705I always assumed Kekfa was already a bit excessive and ostentatious. Then when he went crazy it morphed into a jester appearance.
Leo dresses pretty normally
Celes is, despite her protest to the contrary, a floozy.

>>715159043At least you didn't call her an opera floozy
>>715159123Locke rescued her from that fate.
>>715159324Or any sort of remake judging by what happened with FF7. Truly for the best.
>>715159368>>715159021Gesthal is a gooner who mandates female soldiers dress like sluts.

>>715159021>Sex with Terra>She splits you in half since you pressed one of her 300 buttons accidentalyMaybe she deserves a rest after the game
>>715159476I like the headcanon that Kefka is the reason Terra dresses like a gypsy dancer.
Kefka is the first Magitek Knight, Gestahl dumps Terra on him to see if he can make something useful of her innate magical ability, Kefka doesn't wish to be seen with some wretched little ragamuffin so he dolls her up. Eventually he gets tired of trying to turn her into a psychopathic killing machine and just slave crowns her, problem solved. And she never stops dressing like a dancer.
>>715160446Woman moment
If FF6 released today Kefka would be one of the definitive tumblr sexymen
>>715159524I always thought 5 and 6 should have gotten remakes on the 3DS like 4 did on DS
>>715160636You'd think they'd be more interested in Setzer, if anything. But all of Kefka's updates since the original have made him appear more comically grotesque. I didn't get that impression originally. He was demented yes but also narcissistic
>>715151228It's lame how this outfit is never used in official art and such, it's so much better than that yellow pants thing they always give her.
Terra getting naked was my sexual awakening
>>715145517 (OP)But who has the best theme music?

>>715161098She received some art for it, but they view Amano's as the true version I suppose
Terra should end up with Edgar.
>>715151228>>715161098I like all the sprite outfits better than the Amano interpretations. I've scoured lots of art over the years and nobody ever draws Kefka with this green and gold doublet and layered cape thing he has in his sprite art.
>>715161979Edgar is taken
>>715145517 (OP)Iโm playing through for the first time and I donโt like it, currently in Sabinโs ministory (met Cyan and fought a ghost train which was honestly the highlight up to this point)
ATB puts me into this frenzy where I have to click actions asap and itโs weird to play a turn based game I canโt put down for a sec mid-battle, and Iโm aware I can โpauseโ by going into the spell/item menu but that feels weird. And in that frenzy I donโt notice when people are low on health since the total Hp isnโt shown, I just might catch if one is in the double digits. Just feels kinda fucking bad all around and Iโm sure it was cool at the time but between Sabinโs input commands, very weird event triggers (I tried leaving and going โsouthโ to find the Veldte because the prompt didnโt show to jump down that cliff), shit like that cave section where you switched between Moogles to protect Terraโฆ I dunno, somehow there is too much going on for me to feel like I can really strategize and engage with the mechanics. Apologies to anyone thatโs a fan of this, Iโll at least go until I can get Espers

>>715162167It's the reason Nomura was chosen to lead 7's character design, he know how to design within the hardware limitations to make characters more readable and distinct.
>>715162704I'm always surprised when I hear of someone having a hard time with FF6, especially the early game where you can just autocrossbow or blitz everything to death. Can't you just set the battle system on 'Wait' mode?
Anyway if you're miserable you might wanna quit after the Battle of Narshe when your party members all meet up again, because its gonna take you a while to get access to espers.

>>715162259If you like FFVI, give this a read if you haven't already. The creator of Sabin & Edgar, Tanaka is my favorite bits, explaining how serious it is for them to tell anyone their middle names. Even Locke doesn't know Edgar's but Relm does.
I adore that they even put plot points to little things you might not notice, like how when you unequip Setzer's bandana, he'll never put it on again due to deciding that Locke wears it better.
https://shmuplations.com/ff6/
Definitely worth a read if you love FFVI.
>Seeing the lines Iโd written actually spoken by the characters in-game got me really anxious, though. (laughs) โAll the characters are good, except Sabin and Edgarโโฆ I was very afraid to hear those words. (laughs)If only she knew she made the best characters in the series.
>>715163082Iโm not having a hard time itโs just that all these factors combine to make me think, โIโm winning, but Iโm not sure howโ and I donโt get much out of it, you know? Like I stumbled upon the bio blaster which makes many mobs a joke, but itโs an item, when will it fall off with no recovery and what comes next?
Also regarding posts after this the Sabin intro did take me a few tries lol, I just didnโt know exactly when to do the left right left input. Thereโs no feedback until it either works or doesnโt so I kept trying to select the enemy with a second A press, or doing it as the turn started, etc. After I accidentally did the input for his aura beam (touchscreen emulator) Iโve just been defaulting to that
>>715163910Phonezoomers definitely not beating the allegations

>>715164428Only the V edition is worth anything, since it has upgraded monster sprite art and the bonus stuff. VI's IOS Steam is notoriously shit with a metric shit ton of bugs and graphical errors. Like that bridge in Mt. Koltz before Vargas, the entire backdrop becomes worse than its SNES counterpart.
>>715164428But to answer you, no, you have to download them elsewhere, as they're removed from all Apple and Steam stores.
>>715145517 (OP)Fuck later releases in the series for giving Terra blonde hair
>>715164429I can't lewd Terra. She's one of the last characters from my childhood that remains untouched. Celes too, but that's because she's boring.
>>715169881Did they? It's still green on gba, and ios from what I've seen. Seems to be the one detail they bucked Amano on. Thank God, shoulda done it more. Guy draws cool monsters but should stay away from human characters outside of FF4.
Just finished this game with the brave new world mod, it was alright
Does anyone know the romhack where there's an Onion Knight and a bunch of other custom content in the game for some reason?
>>715170297I mean stuff like Dissidia
>>715162845How are the PC ports for those 3D remakes? Been eyeing them for a while, but those ports tend to have some issues oftentimes.
>>715158537This is the exact same shit that hapenned to Wario in Brawl.
>>715145517 (OP)>CharacterSetzer. He's got a nice design, backstory, and Loaded Dice + Master Scroll is funny.
>EsperI don't even remember what most of them do. I barely used them because of how easy the game is.
I like VI a lot, but it doesn't really live up to the reputation it has, at least in my opinion. In terms of SNES JRPGs I like Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest V, and Final Fantasy V more. In terms of Final Fantasy, I prefer VII and VIII, on top of the aforementioned V. Chrono Trigger in particular does the whole end of the world plot better than FFVI did.
Also, I really don't care for Amano's art. It really doesn't fit my view of how these sprites would translate into artwork. It worked for the first 3 games, was tolerable for IV, but I really dislike his takes on the casts of V and VI.
>>715169423>VI's IOS Steam is notoriously shit with a metric shit ton of bugs and graphical errorsFigures I would pick the bad one when those were still available on Steam... Fml
>>715160272>She splits you in half since you pressed one of her 300 buttons accidentalyfucking madcatz
Currently in World of Ruin in the T-Edition and came to a realization that Setzer is really great in it
>free party heal that doesn't get Runic'd or reflected
>chance to get clutch Esper summons
>regular attack is incredibly powerful across everything
>high MP pool so can be partnered with Seraphim for fully party heavy emergency heals
I think I'll try messing around with other characters I usually bench too like Strago and Relm.
>>715170675The one I know that adds a lot of extra content is called T-edition
>>715170675Beyond Chaos Randomizer goes pretty wild in custom content.
T-Edition adds tons of extra encounters and changes up balance of party members and world in general to get you to think more for each fight.
>>715145517 (OP)>Favorite CharacterCeles for sure, some of the best moments in the game and her romance with Locke (who is also one of my favorites) is now one of my favorite pairs in vidya
Terra, Sabin, Shadow, Setzer are all definitely up there too. FF6 has a really solid cast
>Favorite EsperAlexander as an actual summon
Raiden for teaching Quick which is the most broken spell in the game
>>715173270Setzer is underrated, by the time you acquire him the cast is already getting pretty big and I think people overlook him until he becomes one of the first 4 in World of Ruin
He also has the prestige of being the first Gambler class in FF history which while can seem unreliable is as fun as it is risky, along with a very cool aesthetic in general.
>>715150178>seltzer>randomnessOh fuck bro. You do not actually know how he works. He is the opposite of random
>>715171878>Chrono Trigger in particular does the whole end of the world plot better than FFVI did.I like them both because they both have a very different approach to the end of the world.
In Chrono Trigger it's about going through time to prevent the tragedy from ever happening in the first place
In Final Fantasy VI the tragedy is unavoidable and it's about picking up the pieces and moving on afterwards
>>715176285how does setzer work?
>>715162167Fun fact, you can get Kefka's dead sprite in the sealed cave battle if you proc Edgar's hockey mask chainsaw.
>During the end of the world in the original SNES game, they cut Metamorphosis during the shot from orbit as the world tears itself apart
>In the GBA version onward, it keeps playing.
I always hated this change, the silence added gravitas to it.

>esperterra (palidor/quetzali if i have to pick a magicite esper)
>>715170710But that is her actual design
I also think Terra looks better with green hair
It just makes sense with her being half Esper to have some visual bizarreness to her and it looks more fantastical
>>715160446I like this headcanon, accepted
Celes feels like she's belongs in an eroge
She actually has more porn than Terra
>>715178319She can become blonde once she loses her esper half. Best of both worlds.
Setzer and Celes. Love how she gets him to join with the same coin Edgar used to give his brother his freedom.
I particularly love rom hacks that give Celes more utility by making Runic more useful than a handful in boss fights throughout the game. Really loving T-Edition so far.
In terms of favorite Esper, I don't think I have one. Never really viewed them as more than spell learning, stat rocks.
>>715145517 (OP)Relm
Don't even remember the Espers' names really, beyond the ones that appear in all FFs.
>>715179313I mean do you remember her introduction?
>>715145517 (OP)Edgar. Alexander as a summon and Phoenix for teaching Life 3. Terra, Gogo and Shadow round up my favorite party, although I love and rotate everyone.
>>715157527>>715158537I got tired of correcting people about it myself. You ever played Final Fantasy 14 and do the Omega raids you see Kefka dropping pots and pans on players for "hyperdrive" like what the absolute fuck is this bullshit. It's because he gets compared to the joker and now suddenly that means clown because they saw Amono's art and white makeup suddenly he's a whole circus.
I think part of it is FF7 vs FF6 arguments relying on Kefka vs Sephiorth to sandbag the imagery of either villain (momma boy vs clown) and the Japanese inability to understand nuance. I don't even think the Japanese had a real idea of what he was, and we see some examples with FF9's Zorn and Thorn or Oscha from Final Fantasy Unlimited.

Kefka was kind of a bumbler at times in the first half of the game, and had some goofiness and some spontaneity to him but he wasn't a try-hard jester like it seems recent reimaginings have him acting like. He was just cruel and found evil things hilarious and no appreciation for life, but I think he'd have have pic-related reactions to seeing himself acting like a twat in Dissidia/FFXIV

>>715183502I think it's cope to be honest. The competency of Kefka cannot be understated and I don't mean this for his "finale" but moreso how he even got there. I don't people want to come to terms with a character with a nihilistic regard for life as someone capable of taking it.
Doma isn't our first interaction with the goof since that would be Figaro and he burned the castle forcing them to go under the sand, but it's an intimate demonstration of his command ability and problem solving. Kefka not only berates his underlings and view them as fodder, but he had an entire scene dedicated to poisoning the water supply of Doma which is unheard of in anything prior. There are instances where places that get erased in FF5 come back after Exdeath is dead and the void is sealed. Doma doesn't come back. He committed a war crime because to him it's easier than it is engage the people in Doma, and I don't even know if the Emperor gave him the idea or he acted on his own accord; but this is where it gets ominous, he wouldn't be in the position he was in with Geshtal otherwise. The emperor knows this because it might not be the first time either.
Sure he's been bested at Narshe but then you see him again in the Magiteck lab siphoning espers and probably gaping Shiva throwing her and Ifirit in a pit of dead espers. He knows of the warring triad, his ambitions are already said, and he even understood the magicite transference as it happened when you meet Cid. He even plants doubt in the group with Lock and Celes. He uses his magicite knowledge to neutralize espers in Thamasa and forces them to crystalize. The goofy antics and laugh distracts from what is a severely competent foe and his betrayel of the emperor highlights his own mechanical knowledge of magic involving the warring triad's position and negate/channeling fields. I think it makes people uncomfortable someone that competent and adaptive is wearing makeup and laughing.

I don't remember spending a lot of time in Inn's (it's easy enough to heal/rest outside of them) and least of all with Shadow in the party and that's the only way you get snippets of his past is by sleeping in Inns with him in the party. >>715182683Japan didn't really have a concept of Kefka in the way the US did. He was partially a different character in the Japanese script, it was his English translation that gave him the Joker parallels.
That said, it also wasn't overdone. You could tell he was a sadist and a nihilist but he wasn't completely goofy like a clown. He was more like someone completely socially maladjusted who laughed at inappropriate times.
>>715159043Kefka was the first attempt at creating a magitek soldier by imbuing a human directly with the power of Espers. The attempt completely broke his mind, but he was still a very useful soldier so he wasn't just tossed out.
I have to think it wasn't a complete departure from his previous character though, if he went from being a relatively stable general into a clown I think the empire would've been more apprehensive about trying again. I think it just amplified his traits beyond what they normally were which was acceptable as a side effect. It also could explain Celes's melancholy from the procedure as well, perhaps she was always somewhat quiet and reserved and only after being imbued with magitek did it develop further.
>>715176091Come to think of it, that's actually a really clever way to get around the lack of attachment people would have with him from coming so late. It might be unpopular, but I really miss Opera Omnia. It's been the only game that consistently was giving homage to II-VI, including all the others. The writers would always pair characters that have similar arcs or plot points to give their takes on whatever another character was going through, and it was great. It was clear they knew how to write the characters and were fans of the whole series.
They have an arc where all the monks get together to make a tourney and they pair the 3 big favorites together (Yang, Sabin, Tifa) and have them win. Fucking loved that chapter.
There's a part where Edgar, trying to get the Type-0 girls to open up to him, tells them his middle and and it's the only character inconsistency I ever notice.

The five protagonist's character expressions are actually a pretty great addition in the IOS version, because they used the FFVI expressions and you can tell when Bartz, Faris, Lenna, Galuf and Krile use Locke, Edgar, Sabin, Terra and someone else I can't remember's expressions. It's a pretty cool upgrade from the original SNES one in that regard, since FFV essentially uses the same sprite style as IV SNES.

Correct me if I'm off base but does anyone else feel like FF6 has a sort of Italian Renaissance vibe to its aesthetics? It's something I've noticed lately with the sort of colors and types of clothes the characters wear that I think really looks nice and unique for the series, even the Magitech armors and more industrial elements feel like Davinci inventions in appearance.
>>715283417I think its a fair observation
>>715221465>>715221132That's because WoL was never meant to be fighter to begin with, but rather the entirety of the FF1 party as a collective turned into one individual character.
Do not let modern discourse fool you into thinking otherwise.
>>715284216@Grok is this true?
>>715192345>There's too many major characters and no clear protagonist that stands out ahead of them allThat's the fun part. It feels more like you are engaged with the world itself and are immersed with the people who live in it. Rather than just the perspective of a self insert.
>>715275007I honestly did use him a bit during the WoR because I liked his dances like Water Rondo and Wind Song. Mog may be the "silly mascot" party member I used the most in any Final Fantasy game. The ones I mostly ignored were Gogo and Umaro. But I did have Mog in the party semi regularly
>>715275007>only viable dance is missableWHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
>>715273391Short answer: To remove her hesitation.
Long answer: They couldn't force her to develop a taste for blood. Terra would do as she was told, but she still hesitated to wholesale slaughter people with her magic. In the scene where Kefka puts the slave crown on her, the VERY FIRST thing you see her ordered to do is mercilessly burn an entire company of Imperial troopers to death. This gives you an immediate clue as to why it was needed, because that is something she otherwise would have held back on. So even after being raised within the Empire to be a magic weapon, Terra was still too damned soft hearted.
I also believe that Gestahl signed off on it. Anything to make her a more effective weapon for the empire.
>>715265503Relm is such a terrible influence on the baby-brained amnesiac.
>>715268057Honestly, thinking about it, they were probably too intimidated by her to seriously try stripping and fucking her even in that state. The way she was speaking to them also just doesn't suggest she'd been that thoroughly humiliated.

>>715293297Palidor was my favorite when I was younger, both visually and because it made you "safe" for a small period of time. Your post made me remember that, so thank you.
>>715293470Nah. I've heard that Cyan has a line where he goes "I know I should have taken your head" or something to that effect when Kefka makes the accusation, but I've never been able to replicate it with any team composition I tried, and it makes 0 fucking sense for Cyan to believe the murderer of his family at any level.
The guy is sitting outside Kefka's cell because he's contemplating whether he should shit the bed for the Returner's and put everyone in danger for the sake of revenge.
>>715293470she originally was the traitor, but Nomura or whoever fell in love with her character as she was being developed. She most likely could have been a double agent and rejoin the team at some point because of Locke's relationship with Celes. Also concept art showed us more characters that didn't make it and Terra was slated to be a guy at one point. World of Balance was originally suppose to end at Floating Continent, but due to smooth progress and extra memory in the system, they decided to expand into the World of Ruin.
>>715294218Kitase created Celes iirc. Nomura was mostly still a monster designer at this point but had the opportunity to create 2 characters in Shadow and Setzer.
>>715291038A lot of people had that sentiment back in the day, and it definitely is annoying; but as you said, it shows her character in a very positive light and makes her return even better.
I personally think Kefka was intentionally waiting for the Returners to regroup, or at least anyone to challenge him, because at some primal level he wants to be proven wrong. Why else wouldn't he just waste every town, where he clearly demonstrates he can do so at any time.
Instead he waits an entire year for all of them to regroup, reach him and tell him the answer to his question: What the fuck are you even clinging to this shitty existence for. He just is a pessimist as well as a nihilistic megalomaniac, so no answer was really going to sate his query.
Ironically to quote him "None of that junk is enough to fulfill hearts"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Niulhs8ErCA
>>715291479>it really helped me appreciate certain characters more and made me more interested in playing the games that I had yet to play or hadn't looked much into.My sentiments exactly. It really helped you see things from even the rougher or lesser characterized players. And as you said, giving interest to games you either dropped or never got around to, to further appreciate them.
Maybe one day Squee will get their heads out of their asses and release an offline version with the missing JP story that finishes it up. It definitely doesn't paint any of the Final Fantasys in a negative light, and utilizing FFX's turn based combat really is a fun way to enjoy Dissidia.
>>715293470Doesn't seem that way. I always took that as Gestahl and Kefka just assuming she had decided to infiltrate and were giving her a chance to rejoin right there. After all they had the statues, they'd pretty much already won.
If Celes ever fed them information or sabotaged our efforts I do not recall it.
>>715145517 (OP)Edgar joins the party as an OP rockstar and the chad energy never stops. The moment that cements him as the best character for me is when he uses the thieves in the WoR to find his castle, and when Celes asks if he's going to go after them to get the royal treasure back, he says fuck the treasure it's worth nothing compared to my people.
Terra deserves honorable mention, learning how to love through the children of Mobliz, wanting to protect them and give them a better life than she had.
Back when video games gave you characters to aspire towards.
>>715157527>>715157725>>715158537It's shocking how mischaracterized Kefka is outside of his own game. They bounce between cheesy goofball antics and "sad clown" in dissidia, it's ridiculous. He's not silly or stupid. He's weird, unsettling, and extremely dangerous. EVERYONE in the empire except maybe Gestahl hates and/or fears him, and those are his allies. He doesn't prance around in FF6. Every time he cracks a joke, people die. Usually a whole settlement dies.
>>715293878There's similar lines in the script dumps for the SNES and GBA versions, but nothing that graphic.
SNES
>KEFKA: General CELES!! The game's over. Bring me those Magicite shards! >LOCKE: CELES! You...deceived me?!>CELES: Of course not! Have a little faith!> (If Cyan is in the party.)> CYAN: See! I knew she couldn't be trusted!>KEFKA: G'hee, hee, hee! She has tricked you all! CELES, that's so...YOU! GBA
>Kefka: General Celes! We needn't keep up the charade any longer. Bring me those magicite crystals!>Locke: Celes! You...tricked us!?>Celes: Of course not! Please, trust me!> (If Cyan is in the party.)> Cyan: Hmph. I knew she was not to be trusted!>Kefka: Hee-hee-hee! The sweet taste of betrayal! Oh, Celes! That's so...you!The scripts for Mobile and Pixel Remaster are based off the GBA script, so I doubt it'd be in either of them. All that said, I don't know how to trigger the lines either. I've watched videos of different versions with Cyan in the party at that point, and the line never triggers. I'd say it's a bug, for it to persist through remakes is mind boggling.

>>715295025Edgar in your image looks super gay and kissable.
>>715295737Please stop liking the things I like.
>>715295413Heh, yeah, most people end up just defaulting to the Figaro brothers for that part, so Gau and Cyan are the outliers there.
It still is bothersome, as just like the opera segment is Celes finally letting her guard down and showing that she's more than a weapon or traitor and that the Returners are her friends, the battle of Narshe is supposed to be a moment where characters like Celes and Cyan are fighting for their lives side by side and gaining camaraderie for one another, and that line really fucks with that.
I'm glad it can't be replicated, lol.
>>715293470No, Kefka was definitely just trying to sew seeds of doubt in Locke and the others since the Returners were making a lot of progress and he wanted to cause chaos in their ranks.
Celes' denial to the accusation feels genuine, and later when Locke/Celes meet again in Albrook she's clearly very hurt by his previous lack of faith in her and Locke also regrets doubting her at all. I think both of these make less sense if Celes really was a spy all along.
>>715294218Also this, there was an entire dropped storyline where Celes originally was set to be a traitor infiltrating the Returners intent to betray them from within, but fell in love with Locke and couldn't go through with it (you can see that in the same interview posted earlier https://shmuplations.com/ff6/ )
>>715295413Can't help but feel this (as in Cyan's optional line) is some ancient hold-over from when she actually was supposed to be a legit mole and only slightly less crazy than Kefka. I know they still make the accusations during the Vector portion of the game but they ring incredibly hollow given how she actually acts and no one ever seriously believes it.
>>715295667I wonder if it was his idea to turn the castle into a sandworm or if it was already there and was the reason he became an engineer
>>715295974I don't think it was a trick. I think Gestahl and Kefka really believed Celes was just waiting for the right moment to join back up. IIRC they were genhinely surprised when Celes ran Kefka through instead of selling out her new "friends"
I'm leaning toward delusional overconfidence
>>715295413Shit, I can't seem to find the art of Locke, Edgar and Sabin in the rafters of the opera house fighting the rats, but all the fanart always seems to use that composition. I mean, why separate the brothers again?
