the Resistance: Fall of Man series has a lot of cool weapons, but Auger might be the most creative. can shoot through walls and has a secondary fire of creating an energy barrier people can walk through but not fire through unless it's an Auger.

Turok 2 was the first FPS that had a lot of weird but useless weapons.
You had a tranqulizer gun that took 4-5 shots to put a single enemy to sleep when there's no tactical reason to do so.
A shotgun upgrade that bounces the pellets everywhere with no real purpose except to tank the framerate
A landmine thrower that takes a few seconds to arm the mines while being attacked the whole time.
A throwing disc that you get in the very last level that is ineffective against the mechanical enemies you fight in the stage.
The ultimate weapon, The Nuke, does nothing to the game's bosses. Just a glorified screenwipe in a game that maybe throws 3 enemies at you at once tops.
Not to mention a homing drill that detects brainwaves, latches onto the skull, drains your brainfluids (all in N64 glory) and detonates.
