What went so wrong?

Linear third person shooter that won't offer anything interesting besides its setting (gimped by shit weaponry besides boomsticks and revolvers) and will probably be full of the usual shit such as chest high walls, stealth takedowns etc.
Thankfully it's "only" 40€ so if it's well polished it could be carried by its story despite the gameplay being what we've already seen dozens of times in other games featuring le minimalistic UI.

It's crazy that the blueprint to have a real original Mafia sequel has always been there with games such as Scarface, Godfather 2 and Gang Land (the first one) but the industry has stagnated and is happy doing the bare minimum.

using look and feel the same.
I guarantee you this new slop will have the same looking terrain and textures as every other modern unreal slop. it will also have the same lighting effects and that lighting bug which happens you go from a light zone to a dark one like every unreal engine slop.
the fact that it also stutters like shit always is just the cherry on the shit cake.

Mafia 3 and Mafia 1 DE were both serviceable games. And there aren't many history focused games coming out with decent budgets so that's a buy from me.

Not really. After Mafia 3 fail they laid off the whole San Francisco studio. The game will still be shit though. Now it's directed by a Brighton studio, which is just San Francisco light.
