To be fair bretons are pretty much pointless.
Imperials are the "default" humans. Redguards come from an entirely different continent and are samurai nigger arabs. Nords are not too different from imperials but now that we have skyrim, we at least got a ton of culture for them, including abilities like the voice. I honestly prefer it. Cutting up humans into Roman, Viking, African-Muslim, and French-English really gives Humans as a whole a way different flavor than say the way DnD does it.
Giving each variant of humans a completely different race makes them feel way more different to each other than just making them play a human and ask them to take a feat that goes along with their backstory.
In your standard DnD setting you may struggle to name 4 different countries or tribes of humans, while any TES fan can name the four races of humans.

ES6 should let you go full mutt-mode and choose the races of your parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.
