Not to start a polemic, but honestly, character dialogue in Doubutsu no Mori is the perfect use case for LLMs. Very short dialogues, some repetition or gaps in memory aren't a big deal, and it's easy to embed a short character description in a prompt to make each villager more unique. You probably couldn't run a good-enough LLM locally on Switch 2, but a PC clone could do it given enough VRAM.
