Your opinion on Xenoblade 1?
I just started it and it seems like "Sidequest: The Game"

Xenoblade in general are just SinglePlayer MMOs in terms of gameplay and content. The main story has great cutscenes and characters that are worth fapping to R34 of afterwards, or even in-game, while telling a satisfying and well acted plotline.

The sidequests aren't really important.
I love Xenoblade. It's got a few plot issues but it managed to capture and modernize that JRPG feeling of being on a really lengthy journey across a fantastical world that kind of went away when most JRPGs dropped world maps.
It also seems to be the inspiration for a lot of modern JRPGs most of which are trash so you win some, you lose some.

don't actively do the side quests. sign up for them, but just let them sit. 75% of them will complete automatically as you play the game.

Also if you really, really care about completion, the limited time sidequests are clearly marked.

If you dont do sidequests and advance settlements to their highest states in a timely fashion before major plot milestones you basically commit NPC genocide and severely fuck up your end/postgame state.

my suggestion is to only go for 100% completion in NG+, it's much easier. trying to do it on a first play is a nightmare.

It's pretty good. I'm the type to do absolutely every sidequest before going to the main objective point and I had a good time filling out the map and fighting things I shouldn't be fighting yet and getting extremely overleveled by the end.

I really didn't like it, and I cannot properly articulate why. It's fine on paper, but something about it just kinda bounces off me.

I like it a lot but I like the sequels betters. For sidequests look up a guide, sidequests are devided into real sidequests and fake sidequests and the ones that are boging you down are probably the fakes that are super simplified shit.

The real sidequests are tied to the affinity chart that is a giant pain in the ass to figure out because it involves talking to NPCs with stupid schedules for when they're active. There are some good ones but I wouldn't worry about them except for the two that give you Monado Arts, look those up so you don't miss those.

Majora's Mask has always been one of my favorite games of all time. So when you have Xenoblade 1 come waltzing in and giving me tons of NPCs to stalk and learn about and do sidequests for, it easily became a favorite as well. Every city had its own community of people to help, giving you even a city to rebuild on its own, everything building up to them all finding better and more fufilling lives alongside each other. It was like having multiple Clock Towns all in one game.

Pro tip do not under any circumstances try and fill out the map by transversing it when you discover every location the map auto completes.

There is only one city with time gated quests and I'm pretty sure the remaster marks them as time gated. Everything else can be done at any time even right before the final boss.

its shitty and overrated like every nintendo exclusive. It never stops being a bad single player mmo with terrible fetchquests. Just enjoy the environments because they are the only redeeming quality.

I'd love it if the combat was turn based
Or at least action-y in the same way as Kingdom Hearts

The sidequests that expire are clearly marked, so for the others just do them as you go through the game.
I assume you're playing DE based on the OP image, which makes side quests even easier to do since they improved the objective tracking a lot compared to the original.

Whatโ€™s wild is we thought Xenoblade 3 didnโ€™t do this. But it turns out there was often locations that were unlocked through sidequests. Like the potato farm in the first area. The character thatโ€™s the party lead will actually comment on map completion when you open it up.
And fun fact about Xenoblade 1. It was impossible to have the final area map completed after the point of no return. DE actually fixed this and saved that when reloading the save (and also removed New Game Plus starting automatically when saving)

Mid.
It has a good story.
The combat has potential but is ultimately flawed cause of the ai.
Way too many sidequests and way too loot based.
Play DE so you can nerf your levels

Overrated (especially in terms of the plot and characters) and outdone in most ways by the games that followed it, but still pretty good.

Captures the characters and their feelings and connects you to them to a degree no other JRPG has. You could write an entire thesis on how this game uses its characters, music and environments to portray philosophical elements to the player.

This applies to one city. And the game puts a bid red exclamation mark on side quests that will eventually become unavailable. That exclamation mark is put on every side quest in Alcomoth. This game filters brainlets and midwits so heavily it's amazing.

it's shit because melia lost. childhood friend getting killed then turned into a robot then being sentenced to death and then 'lol you're a human again' in the ending is complete garbage.
