I play a competitive game and befriended people who live in my country, went to lan etc. Got added into inner circle discord, still not that private though maybe 20-30 people. Went on for several months I would join and chill with them maybe every 2nd day for an hour or two. Other people would be in there a lot more time than I am. Eventually there was a separate voice channel created that I didn't have access to which they started joining most of the time. Went on for a few weeks before I just quit the discord. Reached out to one guy before leaving and one after to ask did I do something, got some vague answers back about other people being weird about things.


Still quite pissed off about this whole situation and I'm not sure what I will do when the next lan rolls around. The likely scenario is that 1/2 people in there didn't like me and forced this to happen, however I still lost a lot of respect for all the others who allowed this to go down. Furthermore, I am clearly the best player of this game in my country and it would cause some wider drama if I didnt go and revealed the reason why.

This isnt pre industrial society, we havent had that for hundreds of years. Obviously things have changed, but what do you think “friendship” meant in a say, hunter gatherer society? Do you think all tribes stuck together? No, they often split up, had civil wars, many men were expecting to set off on their own and make new tribes.

Life comes and goes. Nothing lasts forever. Someday your friends life will end, your family, your life. That’s never changed. But now we have modern means of communication, weve had transportation to move people across the country for thousands of years being horses, camels etc. Then boats, trains, cars, planes, you name it. Society has been moving around for a while. America wouldnt exist if that werent the case.

Get with the times gramps. Humans have always moved around and split off from each other, even “savage” cultures like native americans and the ones that came before them. Friendship was different then, it was a matter of necessity. Our modern friendships are more just to pass the time. You dont need the tribe to protect you from bears and wolves and giant cats anymore, you’ll be okay. Go make some new friends and start a family if you’re that upset about it, but remember nothing lasts forever. This has always been the case and always will be.
