Great game.

You're asking for it by playing a rogue-whatever. This was also a problem in that old lady shooter on the PS5.

Challenging? No. Fun, maybe for the first 2-3 hours but only because of the secrets. The problem is that it's entirely based on RNG. You can know exactly what you need, exactly what to do, and exactly how to do it, but if you just get shit RNG there is literally nothing you can do about it. The more you play, there are upgrades that kinda negate some of the RNG aspects but at the end of the day you're still at the mercy of the RNGfaggotry. I made it to room 46 but quit after I opened like the 2nd of the 6 doors after that. I just couldn't bother with the RNGfaggotry after that and then I started playing other shit like Balatro.

Games that don't have some backup shit in place should have their devs drug into the street and shat on by indians.

All games should cycle saves for backup, and have a quit/resume save feature if there's any chance of playing over like 30 minutes at a time
this shit is 101 as fuck

The fact that anyone at all took this bullshit seriously demonstrates just how low critical thinking has sunk among gaming pseuds. People really wanted to posture like they โ€œgetโ€ this difficult game when in reality itโ€™s a piss easy puzzle game artificially lengthened by RNG. Total fucking waste of time.

Something similar happened to me. I was on a slot machine at the very end of my run and the game got stuck in it. I couldn't get out or anything. Lost a lot of progress on that day. This was months ago and I haven't come back since.

Still my second favorite game of the year. While it lasted, it lasted good. I should just go look at the puzzles and envelopes I missed.

It's more like a point and click adventure, where you need to bring THING to LOCATION, but getting the thing is up to RNG and getting to the location is also RNG, so having them both in one run is double RNG. Of course there are ways to mitigate the RNG...that also involve RNG.
There are some Myst-like puzzle boxes, but they are very simple.
There are some puzzle-book type problems. Some are basic and others can be frustrating.
The game loves to reward you completing puzzles with a solution to another puzzle.

I think the game was simply not designed to be able to load from a save state. Otherwise it would have already been in, because save-and-quit is such a basic feature already present in tons of other games like this.

This game does one thing right, having secrets hidden in plain sight that you slowly uncover over time that become more and more abstract, until the point that makes you feel like some sort of giga-IQ super genius that's unraveling the code of the Matrix.
In fact that's literally one of the last puzzles, you finding a door to enter the Matrix lmao

But the RNG is so dogshit, the game gives you absolutely no mercy. I spent hours of failed runs knowing how to reach Room 46 but being unable to do so, because the game just randomly decided I wasn't allowed to win.
At one point I lost my last step descending the drained fountain with basement key in hand, and just fell asleep walking down the stairwell.
I like to imagine my poor little Simon tumbled all the way down the stairs and mercifully passed away, so he didn't have to play this dogshit RNG game anymore.

It's good after you learn how to manage your resources and what rooms you should draft depending on your position/rotation/house layout + you have some permanent bonuses. But then after a dozen hours or so you'll get to the point where you no longer unlock or learn new things with each playthrough and have to roll for some specific rooms to progress. Playthroughs also become a lot longer here. Depending on your patience you'll want to drop the game some time after reaching this stage.

the puzzles themselves arent particularly hard. the "difficulty" comes from recognizing clues in order to understand what the puzzle even IS and how to solve it, and then finding and assembling all of the necessary clues. further difficulty is how spread out certain pieces/clues/solutions even are, and the rng elements of accessing them.

it has a lot of layers and actually builds into a pretty nice game. but adhd retards like you cant comprehend a situation where you need to keep notes/screenshots, and where a puzzle isnt something that you simply move pieces of something around. you're probably the sort that thinks ocarina of time is the greatest game ever, and the "puzzles" in that game are superb. its the biggest self tell.

The game's lack of a save feature is contributing to carbon pollution.
Not having a save feature means I'm forced to keep the game running whenever I leave my computer.
Right now my computer is drawing 200W running the game. I'm about to head to bed. That means when I wake up 8 hours later the game will have consumed 1600Wh of electricity. This could've been 0 if it had a save feature.
>but sleep mode
Not reliable. I've had games crash out on resuming from sleep.

Holy shit, seeing the absolute brainlets on /v/ makes me feel like I should seek higher ground. There's absolutely no reason to be around you shoe-on-head morons. Skill fucking issue. Aside from the fact that the boiler room conjoined with the pump room sets a semi-permanent water level (which is to say, it stays where you put it until you change it either later in that run or another run), you ONLY need the pump room near the boiler room once to suck the water into the auxiliary overflow tank. Once that's full, 99% of the pump room related puzzles can be solved without power.
