Mary Skelter has a really unique setting. Almost the entire trilogy of games take place inside a living organism that generates it's own ecosystem. Also there are aliens who want to impregnate the moon.

as a jrpg legend of legaia was a 6/10 for me but the setting is definitely unique. if you can tolerate rpg maker, the way (2000) has the most unique setting of any rpg i've played

yes, but both are really bugged (game breaking bugs) and the engine is complete garbage, it stutters like mad even with a ton of memory allocated to DOSbox.

my favorite settings are (in no particular order)
>an icy world with sliding physics and tight jumps
>an ocean world where movement is retardedly complex
>a lava world that's extremely linear and would be the easiest level in the game if the floor didn't instakill you
