thps3 is actually sick, it's my second favorite after thps2, thug is cool and all but if i have to pick 1 thps to true 100%, it's gotta be 3 because it's the one with the most variation between the skaters (even if it isn't a ton, it's enough to keep it fresh) unlike thps1 and 2 where you play the game as rune glifberg, then everyone you play as afterward is just rune glifberg but slower

The THPS 1+2 remake was fantastic and the only bad thing there was to say about it was that it was always-online and EGS exclusive on PC. It took the best from the originals and added mechanics from later games and it only made them better. If you missed out on it you're a retard, go play it right now.

Were people expecting THUG remakes? When it took them five years to get around to this glorified map pack? When Bam was unpersoned in 1+2 and his inclusion in 3+4 was extremely last-minute specifically because of fan outcry? When 4 was turned into a 1-3 style "2 minute goal checklist" game instead of the more open world exploration that THUG especially were known for?

when the mod to restore all cut songs from the soundtrack, which are like 60% of the song list, I'll buy it. Until then, I can emulate this games just fine

I think the main thing is that 1 and 2 benefited quite a lot from the remake treatment because they were able to bring in a lot of quality of life upgrades that were missing from the first few games. Namely a better framerate and manuals (in the case of 1) and reverts.
3 didn't really need much touching up in this regard, and 4 is just so fundamentally a different game from the first three that it'd stick out like a sore thumb if remade faithfully. Obviously the route they took with it is contentious as well but there really wasn't any winning. If they had just done a 3 DLC pack for 1+2 back in 2021 I think everyone would have been a lot happier.

thps 1 and 2's remaster managed to keep most of the soundtrack intact and they upgraded the gameplay with the additions from 3 and 4

Same. I just don't care for gutting the original mission system in place of soulless timed challenges. Hell, most of those missions you start are timed anyway, it just actually gave you some time to explore levels and look for secrets and unlocks. Some of the THPS4 levels are too big to even see everything in just a few minutes.
I can't even get to complain about physics and gameplay changes because they already lost me there. No ACDC - TNT? No watch_me_xplode cheat? Fucking dropped.

Start on a vert, do a special flip or grab, revert on the landing using right trigger, go about your line using manuals and rail grinds to get between places you want (jumping on and off rail grinds gets you speed, and so do wall rides), when you run out of speed just spam manual tricks by mashing square or jumping and flip tricking into a manual into a flip trick.
