Because LCD technology has liquid in the name for a reason.
The motion is blurry as fuck, and the picture look almost black & white in comparison.
OLEDs basically solve all the LCD issues, but they're expensive.

It's not like when i switch back from my CRT to my screens that suddenly shit looks literally black & white for a while and the motion blur is painfully obvious.

This 10000x over. Watch a vhs on any modern screen and it looks like shit. Watch it on a crt and it suddenly looks great. Same with DVD.

Let's not talk about high bitrate 480p video being visually similar to 1080p either. Higher resolutions are purely lcd pixelfag cope.

OLEDs have the same motion blur problem as well as
-VRR flicker
-ABL can't be disabled
-They're ridiculously expensive
-BFI causes massive reductions in brightness as well as image retention
-They only last about 12 months before they need replacing

Motion blur and input lag on LCD/LEDs are very dependent on the individual display. Some are abhorrent and some (few) are actually decent. As with everything, generalizations are stupid. It's the same with CRTs where there are a lot of bad ones.

Depends on the console. I find that older 5th gen and below actually looked better because they output at 240p generally, meaning you're not getting that horrible flickering from 6th gen games and get nice scanlines instead.

If you have a softmodded PS2 you can force games to run in different video modes with GS Mode Selector (old versions have some modes new versions lack)
You can force games normally in 480i to run at 240p and for the overwhelming majority of the games it just makes them look worse even if the raster is more still.

Because they are the technology you should use to experience the games of that era. That said, I have been using Retroarch with newer HDR CRT filters, and finally I can play games without needing a CRT. It's ironic, circa 2007 I was so excited to emulate all my old games in 1080p all blown the fuck up just to see how they looked in HD, now I struggle to most closely emulate EXACTLY how they looked on my TV in 1996. I got deathly ill about a year ago and spent weeks while recuperating downloading literally every game I ever even halfway desired to play all the way up until the PS2 era. I have been spending that time since slowly chipping away at it. I could never spend a dime on gaming again and be happy.

Return to the past bros, once the present evens out it will become the future.

People shit hard on RF but it's really not bad. It's basically composite with the colors being slightly more flat. Part of it's horrible reputation is back in the day, the little switch boxes were really leaky and introduced a ton of signal noise so there were way more artifacts that came with the image. I enjoy RF, people are retarded.

Component is clearer and cleaner but at the same time, many games look unnatural on it. It has more of a raw pixel look for 2D games and you can see jaggies on 3D games much more. Composite/RF have blending and many games were made with them in mind but ya there are tradeoffs. Image will be a bit blurrier and dot crawl can be pretty bad on some TVs but they're in a minority in my experience. Depends on comb filter and the game/system.

I dug out my old PSP out from over a decade ago, found the battery had inflated like a balloon like everyone said it would. Still need to get a new one and a micro SD.

Also started listening and putting music/podcasts onto my uncle's old iPod about 2 years ago. It's better than being advertised to every 5 minutes and the limited choice stops you searching for ages for 'the right song'.

I think digital minimalism is better when it comes to portable devices. Everyone on the train or bus stares down at their phone constantly. Really, you only need it for calls/text, maps and maybe music. Social media and algorithm slop has been detrimental for people's attention spans

This is the way. I snagged a Sony KV-13FS100 off Facebook for $25 last year, barely used, came with original remote and manual. People just want them gone once they realize they weigh more than a cursed artifact and donโ€™t have an HDMI port. eBay prices are inflated by weirdos and RetroRGB brainrot. The trick is to catch them before someone puts "RETRO GAMING" in all caps in the title.

We need OLEDs to reach 1000hz and to have a good CRT beam simulation setting built into the screens that replaces BFI and then we'll have good motion clarity. This can be achieved maybe if Blur Busters start consulting with monitor manufacturers about how to solve this issue. Since we can't make use of backlight strobing, the most effective method to go with is beam simulation from what I've seen thus far. For the time being there's Nvidia's Pulsar modules on LCD.

He absolutely was being a retarded teletubby carrying the fucking thing for no reason. Any respectable man would have it sat on a tv stand and left there (why move it?) or would have bought something with wheels to move it (and allow their wife and kids to move it too) without being a fucking retard. Any respectable women would have done the same, or had a man get them a cart so they could move it.

ONLY ABSOLUTE FUCKING RETARDS PICKED UP CRTS regularly. It did not happen. It was not the norm. If it was the norm, you were a nigger stealing the damn things, because everyone else paid for them and had a spot for them to stay in or knew how to properly make them mobile.

No, this is what a rear CRT projector looks like. It is 3 CRTs with lenses on them that are in a box pointed in the same direction.
The reason they can project an image is because they do not have a shadow mask, so they can get significantly brighter than a single tube that does RGB.
There is no input lag on these, they are entirely analog devices.

My bad anon, I read your post wrong.
If you're using a smartphone, try changing the exposure level on screen.
If you're using an iPhone and have live photos enabled, you can just choose a different frame from the livephoto to get a decent image. It'll be a bit lower resolution than the original though.
If you're on a real camera set the exposure to 1/30, that should usually be enough to get a photo that shows the entire image.

If you like playing lots of older console games, playing it on one of these is the intended experience. Lots of people mention that a lot of old games looked a lot better back when they played then back in the 90s and early 2000s, and this isn't purely nostalgia. The games were made with this sort of television in mind.

I like it but no one that didn't grow up with crt will like it. All components combined don't make up for low resolution and 4:3 is weird to this that didn't grow up on it. Standards have changed and this will effect long term opinions regarding crt. Whenever someone shows an image or video of a crt touting deep blacks and no ghosting, the only thing the youth would notice is a blurry resolution, and washed out colors due to crt glow. Again, I like crt, but it's pure nostalgia for me. I don't think it looks objectively better than an OLED.

NTA, I think if you haven't used a CRT ever or in a long time, filters do a good job, and I mostly wouldn't say to go out of your way to get a CRT if you have easy access to one (though at this point I'm not sure I won't end up replacing mine when it dies).
But if you do have easy access to a CRT, I see no reason to use OLED over it for old shit.

I, and the rest of my friends, were shocked to find the metal rod not only sunk into the cavity, penetrating the vacuum housing, and released a crazy implosion sound. We all felt it. It was nuts. In retrospect, I feel somber when I think of my past actions.

CRT beam simulation will always be shit, and is a completely brain dead way to even attempt to reach CRT motion quality. A completely different approach is needed, something which they could do right now but refuse to. All you need is to put a resistor across the hold capacitor, then the pixels will decay to black like a CRT. No fancy bullshit needed.

>I use 1ms monitors with up to 144hz but no matter what i set them to it looks shit during camera pans.
Because TV content is limited by 24 frames per second. To take advantage of 144hz you need to feed content at 144fps (such as video games). Even then you'll still have some persistence motion blur. To match CRT you would need 1000hz sample and hold monitor.
