The idea that asymmetric sticks are more ergonomic is based on the erroneous assertion that camera control is a secondary input and the face buttons are more important. This was only ever true in the 5th console generation because Nintendo were retarded and only put one stick on their dumbass controller. Once dual sticks became standard this excuse stopped being valid, yet Microsoft still staggered their sticks based on this outdated idea and faggots continue to pretend it makes sense to this day.

most games are 2d and dont need analog sticks

It's not 1995 anymore grandpa no one gives a fuck about the piles of 2D games from 30-40 years ago.

ergonomics?

Claw is obviously unergonomic, only tryhards play claw. At least the option is there if you insist though - you literally can't play claw on an Xbox controller.

Hell of a lot more ergonomic than doing that same thing on an asymmetric layout

I thought asymmetric sticks were there to prevent your thumbs from hitting each other

thats how your boomer non-gamer parents probably grab the controller
Anonymous No.715209947 [Report]
I've never understood why people care about this. I have no problem switching between Xbox and PS controllers at all and it's not even someone I give more than a fraction of a second of thought.

I find inconsistent control schemes between games (different buttons being jump or shoot, etc.) to mess with my muscle memory much more.

I wish there was a controller that had
>hall effect sticks and triggers
>hair trigger switch
>force feedback triggers
>all buttons and dpad pressure sensitive
>six face buttons genesis layout alongside the two triggers and two bumpers on top
>plastic notches/octagonal gate around the left control stick for precise 3d movement
>speaker
>gyro
>comes in all silver
>wireless with interchangeable batteries

That would be the absolute dream controller for me.

The optimal way is to switch to claw when needed. Like I’m getting chased by a boss in elden ring and need to swap to my heal as I’m dodging attacks while still keeping the camera on the action.

But this is true? You're not playing first person games with a controller, are you?

Elden Ring needs to be played with back buttons. You at least need jump and roll on the back.
Anonymous No.715210424 [Report]

Regardless, you can’t claw an asymmetrical controller. In fact your actively handicapped by doing so.

>>715209782
the idea is that you'd naturally "want" the face buttons and joystick parallel like they were for old controller pre-3d, but I never found it to be any better and if anything it makes playing 2d games worse.
Anonymous No.715210912 [Report]
The Xbox layout is shit.

Why you would give up the option to claw and purposely force your thumb off the stick to use the dpad to use it's functionality?

The Xbox layout requires back buttons whereas the Playstation one can use the dpad as 4 buttons in place of (or in addition to) back buttons.

Some third parties place the sticks closer together than modern Sony controllers. Even a fatass won't have thumbs touch on a Dualsense without a retarded grip, but some others are just poorly designed.

This is true IF you put your index fingers on the triggers, but I've never done that because I hate nudging my fingers up to hit the bumpers. I've always put my index fingers on the bumpers, which makes putting your thumbs on the bottom (ie the sticks) pretty natural.

A modern controller would do away with face buttons entirely and focus on rear paddles and triggers.
Most modern games require using the analog stick to control the camera or some other mechanic for most if not all of the gameplay experience.
Taking your thumb off the camera control is always bad.
2 paddles on either rear side of the grip would be everything necessary for almost every game around.

Only shooters are better with a m+kb.
If you're playing any kind of action game, a controller is just far better. No one is playing Dark Souls with their keyboard.

my brother insisted he prefers m+kb for DSIII and Elden Ring, even though I gave him a PS4 controller and a fucking bluetooth stick for his PC.

Bows, magic, and any fight that lock-on sucks at have made me consider switching to kbm for Souls several times. Touchpad or gyro helps, but for whatever reason I get almost zero input from the Dualsense touchpad in Nightreign when it works fine in all the others.

Why are snoys so insecure about their symmetrical snoysticks?
Anonymous No.715216975 [Report] >>715218005
>>715216064
Because Sony are the only ones left making them. It's imperative they never stagger the sticks or I will hate using controllers forever. I fucking hate asymmetric sticks.

...you can't use both, anon? I'd say skill issue but this is clearly a mental issue, retard.
