how did they make Secret of the Mimic just a worse Poppy Playtime? I don't think I've played a more boring game in years. And there's a lot of stuff that you can tell is shitty on purpose to be made for VR, something literally nobody plays

what were they THINKING?!

Poppy has the Grabpack to play with for the more boring puzzles, but besides that and jumpscares Secret is better in every department.

I do not agree at all. The mimic's patrol stealth sections are super boring, the setpieces aren't particularly memorable, and the plot is so slow-burn and disconnected from everything else that it's just a slog to get through. Just hour after hour of trudging back and forth through hallways before a 10 minute chase sequence.

The only good part I think is that very last bit, from the tiger section to the freddy's mockup to the house, and even the house drags like hell after a while.

Plus the Mimic is an INSANELY boring character.

I didn't like it either. I had huge hype for it thinking it would be a better Security Breach, I thought Jackie had amazing design there are so very few games with clown or circus theme.

But whole game was a massive disappointment, it only got good near the end when you get to interact with Chica, Bonnie/Freddy and actually get to see the "secret of the mimic".
WHole game is just a linear mess with Poppy playtime boring chases and such disappointing hide and sick in extremely small areas. The mimic was so underused for this shit, they could have had us guessing at all times which costume has the mimic inside rather than "enter room, mimic activates, go press FA LA LA, LA LA LA" song board.

And i will never stop seething that they retconned the whole lore to make Edwin the creator of everything.

It took me a while to realize the song boards were a distraction mechanic because they gave me the biggest Poppy Playtime flashbacks of anything in the game.

the wild thing is that it seems like the environments are designed for this? but that's not how the game works at all. If it was like an Alien Isolation thing where the Mimic was always active and could hunt you it would be so cool, but I think Steel Wool are just not very good developers.

It was also weird how underutilized the characters were? Especially after Security Breach leaning so hard into the animatronics as characters with personalities, here the Mimic is literally just a silent wandering jumpscare machine.

the Pizzeria Mockup part was really cool though so it's darkly funny that that part is also home to a gamebreaking softlock bug that makes you restart your entire saved game

Also people act like Fazbear and the other companies didn't at least oversee and provide plans for their orders, in fact that's where most of the friction came with Edwin ignoring customer demands. At the very least Henry and William were there when the plans for the Fnaf 1 costumes were drafted.

WRONG. You're told in the game that Chica Party World needed a mascot so Edwin's wife designed Chica and Cucpake and Edwin created them. They are 100% Edwin and Fiona creation.

Except you're told the only Fazbear cretions are Bonnie and Freddy out of the cast. Everything else, Foxxy, ROxxy, Monty, Dog, Big Top, Candy Cadet, etc. are all Edwin 100% original creations.

A ghost doesn't change the gender of an animatronic. Bart Simpson is not a woman because he's voiced by one. Charlie being the ghost who went inside Puppet doesn't turn Puppet, a male animatronic, into female.

I don't get why they turned FnaF into this dumb "hide in closet" type of horror game anyway. The classic gameplay is what made FnaF stand out from other horror games but now the whole thing is just gone. I guess there's only so much you can do with the formula to make it feel fresh and fun, but SL managed to keep the "soul" of the games while doing something different, and it was fun there. Just do something like that again.

The mimic and the subsequent mimic virus is kind of a shit storyline to follow up from Slick Willy Afton's wild ride, but all would be forgiven if this somehow leads to the events of Desolate Hope and Scott just stealth drops Desolate Abandon.
