Just got the MQ3 last week, I have played it every day since, and think about going back in all the time. It's really cool.
Definitely adds something you just don't get from flat screen gaming.
Treat it like a separate console rather than a peripheral.
My only issue is the resolution is still not good enough, you can see each pixel, and it's a bit blurry, but your brain quickly corrects for it.
I would say yeah it's worth it, but I would also say if you are interested, wait for the next generation.

Save up for the Valve Deckard (release date 2026), try it out, if you don't like it return it. Don't but into the Meta Quest crap. It's cheap, but as a result it looks cheap and feels cheap. Meta Quest hurts my eyes, whereas my Vive doesn't.

I personally love VR and play VR even more than normal computer games at this point. I highly recommend all people try *quality* VR (basically Vive or better, but again save up for a good headset so you can enjoy it for nearly a decade instead of not enjoy it for a year!)

It's worth it only if your PC can handle VR games.
Native Quest games are okay, but PCVR is where it's at.

Do you need other people to tell you what to do in life?
Are you incapable of making your own decisions?
Do you have the money?
Are you interested in VR?
You should be able to figure this out yourself.
You can always return things you are unhappy with, don't be such a fucking lazy cunt.

Its immersion is second to none, but the control scheme leaves a lot to be desired. Still waiting for consumer-grade haptic gloves instead of the clunky controllers, also, personally I experience a ton of motion sickness when a game has sliding movement, but everybody's experience will be different
people who call it a gimmick don't own a headset

>3S over 3
Don't bother. The QOL improvements of 3 are not to be found on the 3S, and trust me, you are gonna get ass blasted because you wasted that much money on an inferior product.
I suggest to wait a bit longer, let the new "premium" solutions start being the norm. Meaby wait until a non-facebook VR headset equivalent hits the market. We are not too far away from that, but it's gonna take at least 3-5 years before appening.

anyone else lose the ability to play VR?
i had no issues when i first bought an oculus in 2018 and played probably over 500 hours of beat saber and 200 hours of Orbus. right around when half life alyx came out i started getting motion sickness to the point of vomiting after just a few minutes of VR.

i wish so badly i could play VR. beat saber was so fun.

So you can install things on it. Its a console, not a monitor, though it can be used as a monitor.
Something like beat sabre is better to play on the headset itself wirelessly rather than having a tether.

They're too large in scope for most companies and any dedicated VR effort gets caught up in scope creep.
It's a shame that all of the old 90s and 2000s RPGs aren't as easy to port as modern titles.

UEVR makes up for the lack of attention it got is all i can really say. So it's nothing something you just throw away if you're determined to play your games in the way that you want to play them. The issue there however is that you need a really good system to make the most most of PCVR in general. So it filters a lot of people with toasters financially.

Producing games is a negative investment for a publisher.
It's bad for speculative investment and bad for business administration.
We're not even two centuries into the global IP law enforcement experiment and we're already discovering that publishing as a business collapses into complete non-producing bullshit at the expense of everything else.

It's fun.
Not the future of gaming obviously, but nobody claims it is nowadays, that was just recency bias, nowadays it's just another way of playing games.
it's got a lot of good games but not a lot of Triple A, but most AAA games are garbage nowadays so whatever.
I think the main problem is that i find myself playing the same stuff in vr and never anything new, a lot of the games are pretty samey.
