Mega Man X is far and away the easiest game in the series. Even Mega Man 2 easy mode is harder than this. And the only upgrades that are difficult to find without a guide are the helmet and maybe one of the heart containers. If you thought this game was bad then you will HATE X2 and 3 as the difficulty spikes up right away with the next game.

Only upgrade you really need are the dash boots. The game gives you the buster even if you dont find it yourself.

X1 is only "easy" once you’ve played it enough to know the patterns. First run without upgrades, it's rough AF-no sub tanks, basic buster, no dash until Chill Penguin, and you're stuck doing chip damage to bosses who can two-shot you. Once you get the Hadouken and start plowing through everything, yeah, it feels easy. But judging from a blind first playthrough? It's not some cakewalk. You only think it's a breeze now 'cause you've memorized the whole damn thing.
