Mid to late thousands were the best years for Runescape.
I still play it, but it's just to watch an elaborate spreadsheet make number go up.
Some of the newer bosses are pretty ok.

the only game that I have 1000 hours in is Gears 5 and I wouldn't not recommend it. it's fine if you're a fan of the series. campaign is ok, better than 4. horde is super fun with friends and sometimes I enjoyed it even with randoms. pvp has its moments. I guess I wouldn't recommend it to non-fans of the series/genre.

Not 1000hr, but every soulslop has been a net loss for me.
Every time I psyop myself into thinking that defeating a boss is going to be soooo satisfying.
Completed all fromshit, obtained all unique items because of autism, sperged over every single lore entry, learned to use the available toolkits to mod the games.

I played every single one of the shitty updates, unlocked every character, obtained every single achievement (even the online ones) just because every time a new expansion came out the game would be pushed out of my "100% completed" section on steam. It was totally not worth it.
Now I just can't be bothered to get that autistic over a game again.

For the longest time lacked many of the things 2 had (republics, regencies, nomads, coronations, plagues), and a bunch of this stuff is still missing, or is implemented arguably worse
Overall just sorta lacks flavour/events. I also don't like how aforementioned easy/sterile it is. A few more things in 2 were more chaotic and unpredictable like managing to keep your character alive, whereas in 3 it's really easy to do predictably each time. Other things were improved tbf though coming from the fact that it's like 7-8 years newer such as quality of life. Overall it's a mixed bag

They recalculated how health works and it leads to a really repeatable death range that's close to age 60 by default, and then added a bunch of ways to increase it that if you fixate on can trivialise the whole thing. It's not particularly hard to seek a majority of buffs and get characters predictably living into their 100's. Darktide is a game that I have a hard time recommending to people because it's management is incredibly loose in what it wants to be it was supposed to be a l4d clone sort of like vermintide was, but the game has powercrept into such an utterly bafflingly huge degree that said l4d play style is completely absent, you are a walking demigod with speed, slides and abilities to the point to where you dont even really need to have teammates to look out for one another unless you get incredibly unlucky like a disabler phasing through a wall, the capability potential is HUGE. In turn this capability to be a top sweatlord has become an attitude which in turn made every retarded pub player have a hugely inflated ego and not actually play to the level which they think they should, eating shit and disconnecting.
The systems to gain power are archaic as hell to the average normal player and requires some real autism to put up with a needlessly convoluted system for no real reason.
Very few games let me enter a flow state nearly as hard because of the aforementioned solo carry though, It's my comfort game that I can launch and let my autism run into overdrive and let myself zone out into a flow like trance for hours. There is a really fun game there, but it's hidden underneath a mountain of shit and grind and unexplained or obfuscated mechanics.

The only game I have over 1000 hours in is Warframe, and I still recommend it, just with a bunch of caveats.
You have to like the core gameplay. You have to be willing to use the wiki and look shit up. You have to be the kind of person that wants to collect everything. And you are probably going to buy some plat at some point, small amounts for forma, potatoes and slots, but its not true F2P.
Love the game, but it isn't for everyone.
