I want to hear what the Japanese think about Stop Killing Games before forming my own opinion, but I've seen literally zero threads about it.

dude, japan had a melty like last week because brazil wants to actually own their switch 2 without a backdoor killswitch, japan would defend the shit out of their gacha live service that keeps their salary men somewhat alive during train rides

There are a few threads on 5chan, like on their gaming hardware board
https://krsw.5ch.net/test/read.cgi/ghard/1751927407/
https://krsw.5ch.net/test/read.cgi/ghard/1751948420
The funniest part is that both threads mention concord

Man the Japanese don't get tech based on that.
On that note, do japs have a steam alternative? What does it charge % wise?

Japs in general seem to have a culture of games being this sacred untouchable thing that the author has authority to defend their artistic vision of even when it leave their hands. See modding being effectively illegal.

East Asians are the biggest corporate bootlickers in recorded history. Confucianism taught them to identify with authority even if theyโ€™re not part of it.

And youโ€™re holding their opinion in high regard?

They're like drones that follow the rules, so basically if the devs want to kill games these nips will defend them because it's in devs rule specifically also especially if it's nintendo.

One think I don't get though is how the incredible restrictive understanding of authorship/IP and deference to authority squares with doujin scene being a thing.

iirc because doujin also made their original IP more known to people so they basically let it slide but these nips still are notorious for "1 copy of [insert things here] pirated is one sales lost" hence they usually invent this stupid amount of money lost caused by muh piracy and also their exorbitant amount of royalty money requested if their artist music used in vidya gaem outside japan

Speaking of jap things outside japan they will also make it as hard as possible to use a jap service for no other reason than fuck gaijin, they might choose to licence it later and you are not supposed to have it.

The average Japanese is surprisingly tech illiterate. Many dont have any form of computer in their home.

They are the biggest corpo shills due to the national culture of obeying authority inherited from Confucian ideals.
They either don't know and won't care, if not, then they're going to be against it, even if it's for their own good. It's both commendable and deplorable.

Gacha games don't really rely on servers that much, mostly for the events and such. Pretty sure it won't be too hard for them to make an offline version, I know it happened before for some that EoSd, but that, of course, means no further updates or new content.
