I might be ESL, but this doesn't necessarily read as GW2 is supporting it, just a streamer and "a dev".

Makes sense considering they're still running the GW1 servers today. By their own words "it cost practically nothing to run"

Guild wars is still being sold full price and it's an entirely different beast. There's no competition, it's the same company. They even had a few meaningful updates to GW1, mostly more graphical niceties. The events are all still running and people are still playing it. There's a small dedicated skeleton crew still working on Gw1 who are happy and proud to be doing so. There are still updates and fixes being rolled out in current year. Nobody is expecting anything but they are still doing it.

FFXI is still getting updates to this day. Events, class updates, mob tweaks, additions, etc. It's not just bug fixes. They stopped getting expansion packs but it hasn't stopped the live service.

Technically speaking, this company is one of the best ones for this shit, since they have had GW1 servers up for years since 2 released and they don't have in sight closing them since it costs them like some few hundred dollars to keep them up.
So no wonder some of their developers would be in favor of this initiative.

Now we just need GW3 to take the good parts of both GW and GW2 to become the greatest game of all time and every dev in the world must be forced to submit before such a glorious divine video game and accept it as their god!
