I'm an idort who has played PS all my life and the PS5 started off promising I did enjoy it a fair amount (EDF, DCPro, Bayonetta 10th Anniversary Edition, Valkyrie Elysium) I ultimately enjoyed the Switch better. Sony shat itself last gen with the live service slop and AAA blockbuster strategy which in turn completely dropped the ball on first party exclusives. Sony only beats XBox by default because XBox is a zombie company at this point, otherwise they are losing to Nintendo. If it wasn't for Astro Bot and Stellar Blade in the last two years my PS5 would have a mountain of dust on it right now, and one of those games is on PC now. I've enjoyed E33 on it this year but that's not even exclusive.
I'm very skeptical of the PS6. I highly suspect they will go all digital, and if it does, then the PS5 will be my last Sony console. Even if it has a separate disc drive for purchase at the trajectory they've set for themselves the price will likely be insane and why buy a system with no exclusives that always comes to PC anyway?

After playing through Pikmin 4, Pokemon Scarlet, Monster Hunter Stories 2, FE3H, and Pokemon Shield, each just one playthrough, I was done with my Switch.
I bought it in 2019 and since then I've only played 5 games on it and then shelved it.
Still using my PS5 to this day and I have way, way more fun with it.
I understand people who exist in the ecosystem of ONLY playing Nintendo games but that doesn't mean I respect them.

The system-exclusive games. The typical combo for gamers with disposable income is a gaming PC for Microsoft & Windows-based games, and a Playstation for Sony exclusives/ console-exclusives. Why buy an Xbox when you can play everything with the above combo, unless you cannot afford a decent gaming PC?

With potentially no future hardware generations of Xbox, Sony is going to make billions of revenue off of GTA 6 (while Microsoft makes nothing), assuming it's a console exclusive for some length of time, and assuming that Microsoft has no future consoles to compete with Playstation.

If a game is good I just want to play it at a reasonable performance. Playstation usually gets all the relevant games and plays them well out the gate. There's no point dumping money into a PC if there's nothing taking advantage of all that power. There's no killer app powerhouse to speak of. The PS5 just becomes a better choice by default.

The Xbox Series S, a very underpowered cheaply produced console with digital only marketplace, is currently MSRP at 400 dollars in the USA which is in the same ballpark as PS5 with a disc drive and Switch 2. The Series X 1TB costs 600 dollars with its disc drive and the Series X 2TB costs 720 dollars.
