Because most people don't do post-game and that's where the real grind and real mechanics begin. The story is basically just a tutorial but people treated it like the main course so they either drop the game once they completed the story or they switch to another character for a new playthrough.

Read up on it, apparently the best way (not playing these two classes) is to make an anti-construct backpack, buff your damage and throw a bomb at a crate.

It doesn't. By "drops" I meant coins, which contributes to score/EXP and can trigger magic missiles or heal with the right equipment. For actual spoils, going on long dungeon runs increases the rank/quality. There are some prayers in the Canaan Temple that also help before you go on dungeon runs; iirc Julia is the best.
