Oh shit! Is this a Shining Force thread? Whatβs your favorite game? Mines 1. Whatβs your favorite unit type? Mines flyers. Whoβs your favorite character? Mines Lowe

2 just has so much more QoL improvements so theres less tedium. also, liking flyers is crazy, because they need to be babied and catered to SO fucking hard in order to keep up, and other units are simply better fighters. flying over terrain just isnt necessary, and is more likely to leave them vulnerable and in a shitty situation.
Hot take: Shining in the Darkness is really cool...BUT it would be much better if it had an automap. I want to play it but I don't want to draw out my maps by hand. Yes I'm a casual but it's another Camelot game oozing with soul.

I was playing the first game and really enjoyed it but fell off with it. I should go back and finish it sometime. I actually wish there were SRPGs like Shining Force where it had an overworld that you can walk around in and then it would transition into a SRPG phase that takes place in that overworld. The most games are doing now is Triangle Strategy where they let you look around the field before starting a battle or FE Engage where you can walk around it after to pick up items and talk to your party

Have you played Shining Force 3? I never hear much about that one, I guess because only episode 1 was released on the Saturn in the west, and that was already an unpopular system. But I'm surprised I don't hear more people talk about it. I imagine it has translation patches for the other episodes or no?

Three was fun but you could see it was the beginning of the end for the series. I canβt for the life of me recommend a way to emulate it because it always craps out when I try to, Iβm just going off memory when I owned the game

What the fuck, this feels obvious.
