i pissed away my 20s playing shitty games
every time i go outside or interact with people i realise that while i grinded in some dogshit fucking digital hamster wheel the other people grew spiritually, spent time with each other, experienced life, meanwhile i just wasted the precious time i could never get back. I can't talk to my peers - they're more mature than me. I can't talk to the younger people - they might be dumb, but they're still full of life, and i'm just an old man trying to fit in.

Something I learned from my time in the military is that age doesn't inherently denote moral, personal, nor spiritual development. Maturity isn't found in the amount of experiences you have under your belt, but your growing ability to stand your ground and being able to proudly do the things you do without worrying about what other people think. Anons who play video games and don't feel bad about enjoying the hobby are more mature than anons who play video games and feel ashamed about their hobbies.

>Maturity isn't found in the amount of experiences you have under your belt
Hard disagree. Someone without life experiences won't ever mature, even if he keeps growing old. I've seen this in my daily life, younger people with more maturity because their early life was extremely rich, and older people with no maturity because they had a lukewarm life without any incidents or happenings of note, without any need for them to try harder or leave their comfort zone. I'm not blaming them per say, these are things outside our control.

>I'm curious what your definition of "maturity" is now.
The opposite of being childish. Holding yourself accountable for your statements, responsible for your actions, when acting in a group making choices that favor the group over your own selfishness. (i.e. what attractions to see, or what places to eat) Knowing how to read the room/mood and how to respond appropriately. Having enough empathy to realize that you might be unjustifiably taking your resentment out on the wrong person (i.e. you ordered something online, you got the wrong thing, you go to one of the physical stores of the company and scream at the employee even though he had no hand in delivering your order.)
Try doing a trip with 4-5 people to a foreign country and you will very quickly start noticing which of your friends have "maturity" and which don't.

>>715292687
I'm not sure I get your point, are you saying there are no mature people in existence? The folk I mentioned don't call themselves mature, that's just how I classify them internally based on their behavior. And it's exactly because they didn't start screaming like toddlers when things didn't go their way, that I consider them mature.

I'm not sure why you and the original anon look down so much on "life experiences". How else would you grow if not through experience? Even muscles need stress from lifting to grow. The alternative would be that people are just innately born mature and immature? What's your take on this?

I hate people that do this. I could never be rude to people working retail and customer service jobs especially if the problem wasnt cause by them. I just don't want to look like a cunt and make someone's day worse and feel you get further in life if you're polite.

I think that a person can follow this definition of maturity even without having experienced significantly negative life events, one just needs to realize that we are all in the same boat and try to understand each other.

The only thing worth an eternity of suffering is playing with the fates of other men, their fate meaning whether they end up in paradise or neverending punishment. Surely God would not cast you into the pit for appreciating some aspects of life over others. The only creatures deserving of such are the spawn of Cain.

They appear more mature to you because you're are just projecting. I interact with boomers on a daily basis and these people have no filter and can't handle their emotions. Interacting with them reminded me that some people simply do not grow out of their HS phase. There is a reason why "adult daycare" have been tossed around to describe these workplaces.

if you're talking about the christian god then jesus himself said that the way to paradise is so narrow that few will make it. so I doubt enjoying nature a little bit will get you on the vip list.

Why would I care how I lived my life if I'm about to die anyways? Whether I truly lived or wasted my life on inane shit, it won't matter soon enough anyways.
