Beat Saber never goes on sale for PC. Personally I really enjoy Ragnarock and would likely prefer it over Beat Saber if I got the chance to compare the two, but the modding scene obviously isn't as good as Beat Saber

Is there a "killer app" for VR yet or is it all just rhythm slop?

Did someone call for my COPY PASTA. One thing to add is that I've played a tiny bit of Sniper Elite VR and it's very promising.

>Is there a "killer app" for VR yet
Honestly I feel like this is different for everyone. For some, a game like Beat Saber is all they'll ever need. For others, they need something infinitely moddable like Skyrim. Some just want an engaging story in VR and others want a solid multiplayer experience. What kind of game would you pull you in anon?

Something that will genuinely capture and immerse me, to make me somewhat forget that I have a monitor strapped to my face.

Well anon...that's pretty fucking vague.
Personally, something like Walkabout Mini Golf is extremely immersive to me just because it genuinely feels like I'm playing mini golf. It's cozy as fuck too.
There's Into the Radius that's a bit more realistic. You actually have to clean your guns in it which can feel kind of therapeutic. Strategizing and prepping your backpack for a journey is cool. Pulling out your map out in the world is pretty immersive too.

Looks fun.
My biggest issue with trying to find new VR games is the lack of demos. I can look at it on a flat screen to get an idea, but until you actually get strapped in it's impossible to tell if it's going to be immersive or nauseating.

There's fuck-ton of demos, deals and stuff for VR but there's also so many babby's first vr project that sifting through all that shit is tiresome and that's why all vr fags give up and just go full on vrc tranny.

Huh...honestly yeah I can understand that. I never play demos anyways, so I never noticed that VR pretty much never has them. I imagine it has to do with the fact that most VR titles are roguelikes or mini games. I feel like within the past 2 years we've started to get real full fledge titles like Asgard's Wrath 2 and Metro Awakening. There's an upcoming game call "Of Lies and Rain" that looks pretty promising

My interest in VR was waning quickly so I picked up Synth Riders and Space Channel 5 on the last Steam sale.
The latter is cute but I'd rather play the originals.
The former is shit ton of fun though.

I played the of lies and rain demo during steam next fest and it's the most generic alyx clones I've ever seen. All with what sounds like AI voice acting.
Don't get fooled by the trailers.

In the Meta store there is but 99% of the meta store is slop, I mean on steam. Any game that looks reasonably fun has no demo.

I've noticed that 99% of VR trailers seem to be made by the developer themselves. While they might be able to make a VR game, they have absolutely no sense for making a trailer.

They might compile and release a VR game but they don't play VR games themselves.

I bought a Quest 3 recently. Trying to play Asgard's Wrath 2 and it's pretty cool but I literally cannot stop barfing after 30 minutes.

Nothing you can do about it except therapy exposure. It took me a week of constant VR gamen. Basically play for an hour, take a break and recharge your headset battery and try again.

The market has steadily grown in the background, with a focus in the META space, sadly. Zucc is trying hard to get the biggest marketshare possible for the platform. Here's some shitty opinions:

VR chat is miserable unless you already know some decent people. Every lobby is filled with goon avatars and screeching teenagers. That said, sometimes I find a chess lobby and either get my ass beat, or end up teaching some kid how to play.

I play Eleven Table Tennis every day for about an hour. The ball physics are fantastic and the skill ceiling is incredibly high. It might be my most played game this year.

I loved Racket NX as well. It's essentially breakout fused with racket ball; inside a big dome. Great game to zone out and listen to music while trying to beat highscore/times. Hitting a ball with an imaginary racket just feels good in VR.

Underdogs is fun as fuck too, great combat/mech fighter.

I got a headset last summer and played Half Life Alyx + HL2 VR. It was a great experience.

I have a lot of faith that the VR market will only expand. The excitement is muted here on 4chan because the average poster is 30+ and is afraid of looking silly.

>The market has steadily grown in the background, with a focus in the META space
The larger it grows the likelier someone will make an emulator for meta shit on PC. When that happens, PC players will get a flood of decent games to play around with.

>I have a lot of faith that the VR market will only expand.
A HUGE issue with people even knowing what cool shit there is on VR is the fact that there is no general category for it on Twitch. We have specific titles and VRChat and that's it. VR titles are WAY too obscure to bother streaming into the title's category. If no one knows about the game in the first place, then no one will be looking into the game's category which means it's literally useless for a person to stream real VR games since there's no opportunity to grow. We need a general category for it to be worthwhile for streamers to bother with at all.
