Why doesn't it have Steam support yet. How long is it gonna take
Anonymous No.715294580 >>715307161
Because it's... buggy.

What's even the point? Anyone with a brain is just gonna use an xbox controller.

It's the better controller by a mile
also >no gyro

Why would I need a controller with gyro? If something requires aiming then I'll just use KBM.

A keyboard can't granularly adjust your walking speed.
Stick+mouse and stick+gyro have distinct advantages of plain old KB&M. Granted that KB&M have its list of advantages too, but they aren't without disadvantages.

It also has better gyro.
And better buttons and sticks too. But the better gyro is a pretty big deal. Oh, and the improved rumble is neat.

Do I need to do something to make a switch 1 pro controller work properly on steam? I tried to use one a while back and the ZL/R buttons weren't recognized and the mappings of the face buttons were all out of whack.

Steam should make the pro controller work properly with its new drivers.

Name one single game that requires both that and aiming.

It doesn't. And they very clearly feel different.
But the gates and surrounding rubber is also different. They're not the same.

>It doesn't.
It does. It's the same mechanism with a different stick top.
Anonymous No.715303498 >>715303594
>>715302694
But they're seated differently and the pro controller has the protective rubber ring that prevents the stick from hitting the edges of the gate itself, which should help prevent wear and tear while also making the stick quieter and softer when on full tilt. But even ignoring all that, the pro controller sticks have, tangibly, more resistance to it. They do not feel the same.
But yeah they've got the same potentiometers. But that doesn't make them the same.

Time will tell how the switch2 potentiometers will compare to the switch1 ones though. But as stated, even ignoring those, the construction surrounding them should already make a difference. And again, ignoring the durability and longevity of the sticks, they do feel different. They're very nice sticks.

The stick is going to wear down anyway because it's metal rubbing against graphite. It's designed to fail.

PC gamers need to be interested in it first. The DS4 and DS5 both have gyro AND triggers while also being cheaper.

PS1, PS2, GC, and PS3 sticks still work after countless of hours of use. And they were potentiometer sticks.
Anonymous No.715304491
>>715303706
That was probably like two years ago. I was messing with it just now and then the controller ran out of battery and now it won't reconnect properly. PC will say it's connected but the controller itself is flashing the lights like it's still trying to find something to connect to.

If some third party would shit out a 360 controller with a not shit d-pad and gyro maybe.
As it stands if you don't have hundreds to blow on a Steam Controller, a playsation one is your best bet.

>The Switch 2 sticks are different.
I know that they're different. But this idea that the Switch 2 sticks are prone to fail because they're potentiometer sticks doesn't track. Hating on potentiometer sticks has been all the rage these last couple of gens with how shit the recent potentiometer sticks have been. But there is nothing conceptually about potentiometer sticks that says the sticks will be prone to fail.

And the ifixit guy does nothing to substantiate why these sticks would be prone to fail. He just acts as if it would be a matter of fact. It's extremely lazy and halfassed if not intentionally misleading. But that's giving him the benefit of the doubt because I'm assuming he isn't just wilfully ignorant.

They're literally the exact same mechanism of the infamously bad joycons.

I've never had a Pro Controller drift, only Joycons. The only real problem I've had with them is bad snapback after about a year but that only really matters in Smash and doesn't affect normal games for the most part.

I hope it never happens and if it does I hope Nintendo sues Steam/Valve, or whatever that fat fuck calling it. PCFags don't deserve properly functioning Nintendo hardware outside of using the Switch2.

The potentiometers for potentiometer sticks are ancient technology.
>but these specific ones are the exact same ones as from the first joycons!
Except that's not even the case. He even points out how the resistive film is different, and it is. There is even a new patent for the new material. Time will tell if it's actually any better.
But even then he just says that they've got a similar profile. But he just says that they haven't yet met a potentiometer-based stick that's drift-resistant. Ignoring the generations of potentiometer sticks that weren't prone to drifting. And he neither says nor does anything to substantiate the claim that these sticks in particular are actually prone to drifting.

The material is different. The design of the potentiometers themselves are slightly different. The construction of and surrounding the gates are different. The sticks are different. They are not the same.
