I hear the OG Xbox's Man Of Steel is pretty good. That's not a pitch, though. Spiderman's strength varies widely and he's frequently depicted as not invincible or struggling against single baddies. Shouldn't be hard to make a good game.

Imagine believing you can make a better Superman game than the MASTERPIECE that Superman 64 is.

Undefeated was neat as proof-of-concept but it's barely more than a tech demo. Feels like a UE4 asset flip with a superhero reskin. Fun to fly around in for like 10 minutes before realizing there's nothing under the hood. Still, I’ll give it points for at least trying to capture that power fantasy. Just imagine that scope with actual combat depth, destructible environments that matter, and a narrative written by someone who’s read more than 3 Superman comics.

Insomniac Spiderman (without the fag shit) but with Superman. Not that hard. He will have to be depowered (new movie does this) and the scale of Metropolis will have to match super speed flying mechanics but there's a lot of potential for a genuinely great Superman game.

It's a 2D SHMUP where you fly around blasting aliens and robots with your heat vision. There's three stages: first stage is Metropolis vs the forces of Intergang (with Mannheim as a mid-boss) and Lex Luthor (stage boss).

Then Earth gets invaded by Brainiac (who took over Warworld), first half of the stage is flying to Warworld then fighting Brainiac'd Mongul (mid-boss), then flying through Warworld to finally fight Brainiac (stage boss).

Final stage, the entirety of Apokolips gets boomtubed over Earth, blocking the sun. You then have to face a bossrush vs the Furies, Granny Goodness, Desaad and finally Darkseid with a timer counting down to your solar energy running out. There's purposefully not enough time for you to clear the entire stage without your powers running out, and as you start to get weaker and your health starts to drain, suddenly the entire Justice League joins you for the last part of the stage, running assist by cycling in and out of the stage as they fight the forces of Darkseid alongside you, with Batman in a batwing dropping bombs on ground turrets, Wonderwoman serving as a bullet-deflecting shield if you stand behind her, and Firestorm making small artificial suns you can stand near to to slowly build back your powers. Once your power is built backup, you and the rest of the League send Darkseid packing and force him to retreat.

The loading screens and narration between stages are framed as Daily Planet articles by Lois and Jimmy.

It takes place in warlord or some other alien planet with a red/nosun and you need to go back your ship or a safe zone to recharge or collect crystallized pieces of sunlight.

Yu can do most moves, have fun stomping through hordes of enemies, and the generals can be characters that can actually stand as equals to Superman.

I don't think the extra cinematic stuff is necessarily appropriate for a shmup but Supes does have a fitting moveset for the genre

Maybe include a section where you burst into some large structure for a moment and everything gets an X-ray filter on top of it (maybe as you rip through Brainiac's ship before reaching Brainiac himself)

A reporter simulator where you balance the social aspects of Clark Kent interviewing people, interacting with his friends at work, trying to get a good story for the Daily Planet and piecing mysteries together, while also being Superman and keeping his identity secret when he's needed and avoiding suspicion.

It's fun but I hated the inclusion of the Justice Gang. I get that Gunn is using the film as the launching point for his new shared universe but the Justice Gang were in it for way too long. Took away from Superman, the fucking title character.

Prototype with even crazier powers but the catch is that you have to be mindful of the civilians and the surrounding buildings while you fight. No amount of civilian death or property damage will cause a game over, but it will affect your public perception which in turn will affect the ending you get.

Fuck it, go even further. It’s a Newspaper Management simulator and you’re Perry White. Lois and Clark are your top reporters, but you have to still hire and fire and fill out paperwork on how you’re meeting DEI requirements. Sometimes a villain destroys a portion of the Daily Planet and you have to approve blueprints and designs for the reconstruction, but never anything too different that would require the artists to incorporate it into the next story. You also have to find time to eat lunch and shit while answering phones during your 8-6 job. Your character falls asleep when they get home immediately and heads right back to work so you never have gameplay outside of work.

Something like a God game where the God character is less the player FOV and more an avatar on the map itself (Superman), who has to mitigate disasters and threats to the city with villains making appearances at intervals. Those could be the game's "bosses" I guess. But I'm not thinking anything overly cinematic or plot-driven.
