If your game needs to lock/slow down player movement by animations, it isn't "hard".

Hard games retain free movement while being difficult by creativity.

I'm talking about the maps and how dark souls uses them to stop you from moving about freely. They put things like bridges and corners that force you to walk around them instead of letting me move freely towards the enemy. Another example would be the floors and roofs which artificially create "rooms" when combined with walls.

Is it really so hard to understand that the point of these game is to make it feel like you’re a knight carrying a bunch of heavy equipment? That’s why it controls that way. It’s supposed to have weight, and they designed the challenge around timing and commitment. Why are there always these retarded posts that think every action game needs to be DMC? Can’t things be different sometimes?

When you move forward it goes fine, but when you abruptly add some different direction you have to watch the animation play, before it finally obeys

I don't know, play some classic pc games like Rune
