It's utter shit even for the time time period it's utter shit
It's only claim to fame was literally 'bro, it's not like the other games in the series'
The game falls apart the moment you fight Doppelganger for the first time. There's no difficulty if you're not a retard. There's no story, nothing. Unlike Metroid which it tried to copy, it didn't give a concept of 'new shit is in here'. It gave the idea of 'yeah you need something else, go get it, come back and explore'. But there is never a reason to explore since there's zero difficulty, zero reason to even use 90% of the mechanics like spells or the gimmick items like shield rod
Just fucking playing CoTM or OoE or PoR if you want your good Castlevania with progeression
