I'm on the third mission and honestly I don't get the hype. The missions are meticulously crafted with great detail, but the shit ass Thief Gold mechanics and AI make it absolutely shit. Thief II's engine was a massive improvement, even if it was still jank boomercore game. I have zero clue why this fan mission is for Gold.

Does it actually get better or what?

I honestly wonder if it is tfix's fault. Because it seems so busted how bad the AI is. At least on the second game, the stupid security bots would hit you with their cannonball bullshit sometimes.

I thought it was awesome. But the supernatural/tomb raiding/cave diving was always my favorite stuff. Hence why I don't have a very high opinion of thief 2.

I agree the whimsical missions added a unique charm to gold, but I also like the grounded missions too. II still felt like a better game even if I didn't like the lack of mysticism missions.
