choose one:
>do nothing and maintain status quo and continually buttfucked by corpos
OR
>petition your governments where the possible outcome is one of the three: things gets worse, things get better, or nothingburger happens

This is so fucking beautiful its beyond words, over past year I kept seeing comment about him banning people for just any challenge towards him, his downfall that he made for himself by not being physically capable to say "Im sorry/im wrong" mixed with his enormours ego, is so fucking poetic, there is myriad of clips and compilations of him lying, sometimes in the same sentence. fuck me karma is real.

Politicians support it because they know that videogames is one of safety valves that prevents potential rebellion of young people. They know if videogame publishers go too far with their greed they can push away a lot of people from videogames and if they are not distracted with videogames they might start doing actions aganist goverment.

Nice try, SKG. He's just one member of the EU Parliament. Just one guy in the EU parliament urging people to sign the petition means nothing.

>really any difference between corporations and government?
Yes
>they've all been colluding
To various extents, but an organisation like the EU has
>>opaque and confusing structure so it's not easy to find/get to everyone you might want to influence from the outside
>>less direct relationships with businesses than national governments of those businesses
>>extremely bureaucratic, resentment of private sector elites for getting more pay is likely rife
>>a distant ambition to overcome said national governments, for which public support is desired over corporate support
>>demonstrated ability to bludgeon abusive corporations serves as a show of strength in absence of their own military

I think there's adult political avenues a lot of people aren't considering.
Any sensible legislation the EU market does is a positive soft power move. Then, on the flipside, EU countries already use video games as an avenue of talking to dissidents in foreign countries. It's a complete no-brainer in the beneficial sense for EU power projection on top of the counter and espionage below the counter./spoiler]

This is a genuinely underrated take and has been true for years. Bread and circuses 2.0. They don’t care about games because games are art or culture, they care because they sedate us. The second the sedation wears off and people start remembering they're getting robbed blind, things get spicy. Just look at the timing-gaming goes ultra monetized and anti-consumer exactly when economic anxiety hits a new peak. Coincidence? Doubt.

Yeah, that line was always moronic.
The EU is hardly a paradise, but they have made pro consumer legislation.
To contrast, the video game industry as a whole have literally never moved towards a pro consumer attitude without being forced.
Precedent indicates that doing nothing will only make things worse.

Hey guys remember Video Games Poland?
Turns out they don't have a single Polish developer or publisher.
Does your country have a local association dedicated to representing foreign interests?

let's say if I saw one partner of this representing my country

what would be the best way to put pressure on them, force a statement out of them and generally putting their agenda in a bad light?

It has a very empty website, but it does link to a couple news items going back a year or 5.
Inluding refering to videogames europe and the legislation around children, gambling and lootboxes.

I see nothing mentioned about SKG.
Not sure if I should prod them about it and ask for a statement. Or hope they aren't really aware.

If they're on that list then they'll probably say they are part of VGE and their views are "in line" with them. That's what Video Games Poland told people who contacted them.

i've asked this in the skg discord for my country wether or not they knew anything about them.

I'll await what they might say and then if ask for a statement we can then more clearly scrutinize and turn against them if needed.
