It's a post apocalyptic world. They nailed the look perfectly, and that's why FO3 has the best atmosphere out of all the games.

They didn't. The vibe is okay at best, and that's it. The graphical filter is annoying, the graphics are also really busted- everything looks like it's made from plastic or somebody lubed everything with vaseline.
The game's worldbuilding also sucks dick. It's claimed that bombs fell 200 years ago, but it looks more like world was bombed last week and there are tons of mistakes in worldbuilding, like people building fucking Megaton, a piece of shit city near bomb, in a crater, while there are houses in good condition, that people could live in.

Adding to this for reference: 200 years is the time the United States took to go from guys on wooden boats dying in the swamps of Massachusettes to flying to the moon and the industrial revolution.

The Fallout universe is LITTERED with functional factories, automated infrastructure, and working computers. 200 years is an inexcusable amount of time for them to not get some shit together past squatting in ruins.

And all that is beyond the fact that by Fallout 2's era of world building, the world HAD moved on and started resettling. FO3 is an embarrassment.

Literally nobody thinks this. Not even from just an art design standpoint. 3 flanderized Fallout hard.

For me, it's Fallout 1. The capital wasteland was a fun sandbox to play around in, though, despite how odd and sometimes stupid the world design ended up being. Rivet City is honestly really comfy.

On a recent playthrough, I found the artstyle to be rather faithful to the classic games, aside from the pea/puke green filter everywhere. It has the art deco styled architecture found in the classic games, the interface with the pip boy is a nice update, and even the vaults are a fairly faithful update to the look of the original games. The art director that worked on Fallout 3 clearly cared about the originals and put in some effort to keep things consistent, despite stupid town and weapon designs. It's a shame that he died and all of that shit went out of the window for Fallout 4.
The worst things about Fallout 3 are it's main quest, a handful of side quests and the fact that everyone is apparently still eating 200 year old macaroni and cheese instead of farming.

To add to this, the Vault 87 super mutants weren't the worst idea ever, but still a lazy design decision on Bethesda's behalf. Something like intelligent, organized mirelurks or whatever as a replacement for super mutants would've been sufficient enough.
The tone of the Brotherhood of Steel was also off-kilter and they all should've acted like the outcasts, but it's whatever. Like I said, the main quest is pretty shitty and honestly doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Honestly the weapons don't annoy me that much, a lot of them feel like they have a reason to exist alongside their isometric counterparts and a few actually make a return (at least, I'm pretty sure they do)

3 is a ripoff of 1, 2 and Tactics. Tactics had the BoS split in half over the issue of whether or not to help wastelanders, the ones who travelled east are the ones who wanted to help. The Outcasts are the anomaly in 3's portrayal. Diehard technology hoarders remained in California.

I never played Tactics, but it's interesting that you bring that up since Bethesda doesn't consider Tactics to be canon.
Personally, I feel like the BoS shouldn't have been a factor in the east coast at all and the Enclave having such a huge presence in the east coast only 35 years after Fallout 2's ending is a huge fucking stretch.

Stalker is a barebones open world storygame with next to nil in the way of roleplay or variability. But GAMMA? Easily the best of this genre of immersive dreary ruin simulator.

True, but my favourite way to play STALKER is through booting up an Xbox Series X and just playing the newest installment, in this case Stalker 2. I see no reason to go back to the janky XRay crap anymore.

Off of the top of my head, the only weapon design I can think of that made it through the classic games to Fallout 3 was the BB gun and that's about it. Everything else was changed or replaced for some reason or another.

People are WAY too allergic to the early game and all the shit you have to learn starting out. GAMMA is legit, BY FAR, the best open world immersive survival shooter I have played. Once you're familiar with the systems, the gameplay loop is fantastic.

I have to be honest I do love Fallout 3, the world is much better but I can't play it without TTW because hardcore mode just makes the game so much better and the weapons in NV were all great too, nothing in F3 compares you could make the most lethal builds in NV that would trash even albino radscorpions easily but in F3 there was nothing that compared, like unarmed in NV was mad same for energy weapons.

it's 200 years after the nukes dropped, compare us with niggas from 1800s for reference. I know they were nuked + fev but still. 200 years is a long ass time
