Japanese gravure and such has really gone downhill since 2015 or so, dunno why.

I prefer Japanese characters in general though although I find western gameplay better.

Western games because Japs dont make 4x, RTS and autism simulator games. I'm also a huge fan of rally games both sims and arcadey ones, and Japs dont really care for it.
When you say Japanese games, I think of 1-2 good AAA titles every few years, and then a bunch of overly wordy grindy JRPG slop.
