Speaking from someone who has done a decant amount of ~high level PvE (cleared inferno, lots of raids KC, never bothered with blorva, for reference), I think the economy is absolutely fucked for anyone trying to get into it. Unironically, what you should do (and what everyone does), is just buy gold, since grinding to get out of the "mid game" is abysmal. Fang was a good cheap option, but they systematically nerfed it until it stopped being a good budget option. Magic damage has been fucked for years now because of the shadow, and they "fixed" it by nerfing the cheap mid game staple item.

It just seems like MMOs should try to speed up the onboarding for new players into high level content, but OSRS actively works against that.

Iron is fun for going for a quest cape on. I will agree, this is probably objectively some of the most fun you can have in OSRS. Iron doesn't actually fix any of the problems with PvE though, and just makes it worse for sane people, since you can't even skip the shitty grinds you don't care about, and are just going to be blocked by boss drop RNG.

I tried it out again but what's the point of calling it Old School when it's really not? They've bastardized a bunch of old quests and NPCs and the GE is a bot enabler that removes the only reason to socialize. Do tell me if you still have to talk to another human to complete Shield of Arrav.

I'm already playing 2009scape offline and whenever my friends or my wife wants to hop on and join, they can do so by connecting to my IP address.
I don't see the point of investing time into live service games.

I did after needing an MMO fix, and then uninstalled it a week or so later. I had just spent the night before grinding 55 Magic from the mid-40s and had logged in to do some quests. After walking around for a bit, having fun, I had this massive, sudden realization of what the fuck am I even playing right now? Grinding just to grind more just to grind even more after that?
Uninstalled immediately after that. It was genuinely such a visceral and overwhelming feeling of pointlessness that I still feel badly whenever I think of Runescape now.
