>>715341121 (OP) Mig? You mean the elusive beast that appears once every three moons to say โIโll stream soonโ before disappearing into the mist for another 4 weeks? Truly a mythical existence. Weโre due for a sighting any day now boys, hold the line.
>only 20 tranny runs
Nooooo i'm gonna miss gdq /v/ros
>>715341121 (OP) Mig sightings are rarer than a shiny in Gen 2 without the shiny charm. Every now and then we see a cryptic tweet or a Discord status flicker online and think โthis is it,โ and then... radio silence. Might as well start cataloging these as paranormal events. Get your EMF readers and holy water, boys-mig may grace us soon.
Were there any good runs?

[HUGE NEWS] I JUST MIGGED
>>715342034Which run was this?
>>715341121 (OP)>where's waldo remastered for modern audience
Unironically the worst GDQ ever. Glad I went to sleep after SM64
>>715342036It got worse and worse and killed the entire mood of the thread. Worst ending to a GDQ. I hope you and your loved one are doing alright, buddy. Stay strong. Were you the guy joking about his grandfather in the hospital?
>>715342334Same energy
https://youtu.be/B3e5v3zQlpI
>>715342328I didn't even bother making it that far. I stopped during Mario 3.
>>715342036It was, and I mean this sincerely, the worst GDQ of all time. I think it was worse than the first online-only SGDQ during the pandemic. There were only four or five runs worth watching, and the rest was mostly an endless procession of nepo-runs from the staff and trans rights donations. The finale was objectively the worst in GDQ history.
>>715342036This year it was so bad that "Trans rights!" Got spammed every 90 seconds in the event. I can't imagine a better way to make anyone tired of your political messaging than screaming in people's ears indefinitely.
>>715342382The only runs I really enjoyed were:
>Super Metroid>Resident Evil 7>Super Mario Bros. 3and I caught every other run rated A or above except for Pac-Man and Totally Rad, which I'm going to go back and watch.
which year of sgdq was the best overall? id rather watch highlights of the peak than the stuff that went on here
>>715342382>20 fucking trannies>all that red>9 ads>9 non-runs>neporuns are so pervasive there's a counter for themNot him but I'm so glad I skipped it
>>715342443This GDQ reminded me of the final 2 years of E3. I'll give GDQ event 1-2 years tops until it gets cancelled for good. Majority of the "donations" this year were obviously taken from the events own money supply. Theres no fucking way that 30k viewers somehow manage to reach close to 2 million dollars, thats like if every single person watching the event would give 500 bucks.
>>7153425732013 and it isn't even close
>>715342424>Were you the guy joking about his grandfather in the hospital?Nah it's my dad, he only had an infection that wouldn't go away with oral antibiotics so he needed IV antibiotics he could only get in the hospital. It just sucks in Greece because you kind of have to do most of the work nurses do in other countries yourself because they're there and they do some things but they're not about actually taking care of the patients here.
>>715341121 (OP)I fell asleep on the Deltarune run, I am glad I didn't suffer
I didn't even watch the show, I'm just glad to see you all making yourselves bitter
>>715342495Itโs been devolving year after year, but this event especially they were really pushing an agenda. All the donation messages ended in trans rights, all the character names for every game was trans rights, most runs had at least one something that isnโt he/him. The list goes on.
>>715342382>trannies>ads>nonruns>that sea of redMeanwhile at ESA
>>715342812ESA is speedrunning first, entertainment second
>>715342583>This GDQ reminded me of the final 2 years of E3. I'll give GDQ event 1-2 years tops until it gets cancelled for good. Nah. The amount of money donated by the usual sources (Yetee etc) wasn't any different this year compared to others, completely in line.
>>715342870That's what makes it entertaining
>>715342812Within a day of GDQ starting I immediately regretted being relatively harsh on ESA. I forgot how much worse it could have been.
>>715342616That sounds pretty strenuous. When they send patients home here with required injections and what not, you need to learn some basics of medical aid on what to do and not do, but that sounds pretty fucked.
It sounds like he'll get better with your care, though, so he's lucky to have you. I hope things get better for you, man.
>>715343010>Nah. The amount of money donated by the usual sources (Yetee etc) wasn't any different this year compared to others, completely in line. But the amount of people watching was very low. Sponsors don't like that.
>AGDQ
>SGDQ
>Blacks Go Fast
>Women(Men) go fast
>Gays go fast
What demographic can they expand into next?
>>715343039>>715342870>GDQ viewers go up when actual, good speedruns are on>GDQ viewers go down when not-speedruns, bad speedruns, or nepo-runs are onSomeone really needs to do a statistical analysis of GDQ that accounts for viewers and donations per minute to show these retards that people actually want to watch speedruns.
>>715343047Thanks bro, sorry you had to watch a shitty speedrunning event.
>>715343068Not low enough to make a difference for sponsors., especially for SGDQ which staff generally considers more experimental. GDQ isn't going anywhere, at worst they'll downscale first. ESA is a miniscule fraction of the size of GDQ and it almost died but still lived, GDQ will be around for another 5 years at least.
>>715343086The logical next step is a
>Furries Go Fasteven though there are technically two of these already. Failing that, there's
>Cripples Go Fast
its funny how people here are talking about gdq dying when the niggas who run this have been talking about a third major event for a while now. gdq canada was unironically on the table for a while.
>>715343227Whereโs this from? The ad I saw was from January.
>>715343227>Cripples Go FastGenious. Now they won't even need to practice since they have an excuse lined up
>>715342573going with 2013 too. that was the last gdq in the smaller venues before everything was big and dark as shit so you couldn't see anything, runs were fun and many of the classic runners were still around, ysg was still around. my favorite part was the bonus stream that lasted like a whole week for some reason and it was just whoever was around just coming on and playing whatever.
>>715343167>at worst they'll downscale first.Which is why I give them 1-2 years. E3 kept downscaling for 3-4 years until they shut it down for good.
>>715343350nah anon 1-2 years is way too quick. that would mean they'd have to start downscaling next agdq. not happening.
>>715342382Glad i skipped most of it. Gonna be watching ASM though.
>>715343270>who run this have been talking about a third major event for a while now.Yeah good luck with that with current recession and tranny fatique. People don't have the money to donate and the californian speedrun community degeneracy is pushing people away from the official scene.
>>715343338>ysg was still aroundThis guy actually kind of fucking sucked back then. I liked and memed about him too in 2013 but when I rewatch vods he's just annoying.
>>715343317It was dropped at the end of the SGDQ stream like some sort of hype reveal.

>>715343270Anything but bringing an event back to the fucking West Coast, huh?
>>715343227>games done queerIsn't that just every single AAA game for the past ten years?
>>715343446The charity would actually have been a LGBT one, just for a week long instead of the smaller events they do. While I agree that it's fatiguing it's also undeniable that the troon right stuff is a big donation driver. I've seen posts here all confused about how this raked in 2;5 mil but it's largely BECAUSE of the emphasis on trans right shit.
If it works long term? I don't know, probably not.
>>715343534They want out of America because doing a gay charity is good for optics here or something. Either way it's not happening, they can't handle it logistically.
>>715343130twitch already does this, they show you times when you suddenly lost or gained a lot of viewers.
these clowns aren't going to change for any reason though.
>>715343130the only thing they'll get from this is to never do concerts again because it really hurt the donations.
I knew it was over when I saw the final game was Deltarune.
Where could you find the links to each run? Google is giving me shit results.
its crazy how the event can be so dogshit but i still end up missing it a little. shits like some autistic anchor for me or something
>>715343702It could have been good
>>715342605>>715342690>>715343338cheers, the only two events i actively watched or posted in threads for were 2014+15
>>715343580>While I agree that it's fatiguing it's also undeniable that the troon right stuff is a big donation driver. I've seen posts here all confused about how this raked in 2;5 mil but it's largely BECAUSE of the emphasis on trans right shit.No its fucking not. Its the event itself putting its own money in the charity pool to avoid looking like a failed charity event. The same way how street beggars and musicians always put some fo their own money on the bottom of the box because nobody donates to empty boxes. The event had worst viewership ratio in the events history, which would directly translate to less money if the source of the money was legitimate.
These last minute sudden big donations are never legitimate. Same shit happened with Indivisible back when LabZero was crowdfunding it. On the very last day some big mystery anonymous donator just gave them half a million bucks out of nowhere, what a "lucky break!". This sudden last hour flood of 250-500 dollar "anonymous" donations with no messages was fucking obviously SGDQ using its own money. This idea that theres a large pool of trannies that have both a lot of money and are speedrunning fans is almost as delusional as trannies themselves.
>>715343901We can argue this forever but you'll be sitting here in 2029 posting the same thing. If you don't think the tranny shit draws in donations you're out of touch. I don't think it works long term but right now it's a big donation driver.
The horror block was definitely the highlight
>>715341360Imagine the hotel room autism at this event
i think you guys are looking too deep into the tranny issue.
lots of their attendees are just trans so it's not like they can just get rid of it. even if they keep losing viewers because people find it distasteful they're still going to be the event's "community".
>>715343993>If you don't think the tranny shit draws in donations you're out of touch. You're the one who is out of touch if you think steadily declining viewership is fine because "muh donations are steady.". That money is not coming from the viewers. And people in general have gotten tired of trannies across the world. Tranny drives are not bringing money anywhere, even Pride of all things is struggling with sponsors leaving.
>>715343804I simply feel relief for the first time. I consistently had it on all week and every run was either boring or dogshit. Trans rights coaster, TWO four hour NePokemon runs, even that SA2 randomizer whatever the fuck it was was terrible.
>>715342573I agree with other anons. I watched 2013 live and that canuk brought in the great vibes. Lots of entertaining games being run and no one being an absolute faggot. There was that weird guy with the eco the dolphin game, and did some strange autistic shit, but he was harmless. Once I heard the sex drama and streamers trooning out I pretty much stopped watching. My morbid curiosity of it slowly falling apart is what keeps me interested.
I just wanted to watch somewhat normal people do cool shit that breaks the game they played obsessively.
>>715343993A significant part of their donations now comes from larger sponsors which they can then allocate as seen fit (which makes them look like their coming from viewers).
>>715344165>it's not like they can just get rid of itAlso you can't really close the pandora's box on that kind of stuff. If you start to try to get away from it then suddenly everyone complains that the event is being transphobic or whatever
>>715344596something like gdq 2013 was a product of its time and cant really be replicated. notice how most of the other events we watch here can't do it and up being more like late 2010's gdq's instead.
>>715344698This is why they've wanted that third GDQ in Canada solely focused on gay for the charity. They clearly know that MSF wasn't really the reason donated here. This tends to be less of an issue at AGDQ because cancer is easier to understand than whatever MSF does so people make their donations about it.
I stopped watching it a few years ago. I barely even check out vods for games I'm interested in now too. Half the time when I open a vod I can't even make it 2 minutes into the run with all the bullshit slathered onto it.
I checked like 3 vods for this event and every one felt the need to blast "trans rights" at me multiple times. At this point it just comes off like they are a protected class within the community that constantly needs reassurance and "dick" sucking to stop them melting down.
It's pathetic. I'd rather just watch 10 year old runs at this point.
This should be about VIDEOGAMES and MEANINGFUL CHARITY, and ENTERTAINMENT.
Not a fucking political soapbox to beg for rights they already have.
Good riddance
>>715344910good riddance what
Are there any /srg/ oldbois left here?
>>715342382>everyone loves super metroid>runners are good but commentary>yup yup yupAHHHHHHHHHHHH
>>715344984I'm saying I don't care about watching it anymore.
So for me its good riddance
>>715343804These events are some of my favorite things to look forward to in the year, though mostly because of these threads. This last one was rough though. Those people are extremely obnoxious.
resident evil was the best run imo. pesi does this thing where he always thanks every donation which is smart because it also lets him kind of control the person on the mic
>>715343919It really do be like that.
>>715345001i miss the cakebois
i never missed a GDQ for the first few years outside of having to sleep, can't even watch them now because the people reading donations are annoying as shit and will do anything they can to make everyone have to listen to their voice.
they're unironically just killing interest in the games because people like hearing people talk about the actual game being played and not how cancer killed some guy's dad's boyfriend. if commentary was allowed to talk about the game for the entire run you'd probably draw in new runners that got interested from hearing things explained.
>>715344794It's funny that MSF gets the short end of the stick when they're the only charitable cause that GDQ raises for which has a concrete, positive effect on people's lives.
>PCF is a scam that basically exists to print pamphlets, tell people to grope their friends' testicles, and prey on people's emotional response to cancer>MSF is a legitimate, well-regarded charity that - while it has had its controversies - provides meaningful medical care to people who would otherwise never receive it>no one knows what "trans rights" actually refers to, it's just the rallying cry of a fringe group of the far left of the American political spectrum and has no effect other than normalizing a mass psychosocial delusionSGDQ has historically raised less than AGDQ on average.
>>715343993I don't think it's wise in the long-term either. We're already seeing the consequences. They've basically hitched their wagon to a diseased mule with an ornery temperament. Eventually someone's going to get kicked, whether it's more people rejecting radical leftist ideology or a controversy like the Guilty Gear community experienced.
>>715342382this is fucking grim, especially considering that I actually rated some of the good runs worse than the average shown here.
>>715345001Don't forget, you're here forever
>>715345282What do you think he was saying to that woman and the other "woman"?
Did the views ever recover after the freefall from Deltarune?
>>715345618I turned it off and walked away right after that run
I finished watching at like 1.65 million. How the fuck did they get 2.5??? Im calling bullshit
>>715345618no but thats also not really something to fixate on, i checked graphs and the final run always sees really significant viewer drop off about 20 minutes in. the most notable thing i saw this year is that the concert they did really hurt viewers + donations
What was so special about GDQ in 2019 that it broke a bunch of records? Was already pretty much completely corporate back then.
>>715345618No, but the finale always loses viewers because people start going to bed from 9PM. But that said, it was still the worst viewership for a GDQ by a significant margin.
>>715343042I'm certain multiple people were thinking that
It's why ESA needs to come after, not before
>>715345686The last days always see the biggest jumps in donations
>>715345886the last day specifically
>>715345686the donation counter is actually fake, they have admitted this before
they have corpo money stashed away to hit the """incentives"""
>>715342812i'm going back and watching some of these since I missed the whole event but there's already an unreported troon on the very first Sonic the Hedgehog 2 run, I wonder how many other unreported troons there are? a few? dozens?
>>715345770What I don't get is how AGDQ2022 got THAT many donations. I get it was covid but what the fuck, probably the most tepid GDQ ever after this one.
>>715345978twitch was incredibly big that year and white collar workers/families had excess cash to blow.
gdq is very directly tied to twitch, ive always wondered if thats a concern for them because twitch going down just instantly kills gdq, they cant really recover on youtube or something
it's weird that this was the most in-person attended SGDQ (essentially reached the 2500 attendance cap) since covid, previous years haven't capped
>>715345886tell me you've never watched a gdq before without telling me you've never watched a gdq before
>>715346089Yeah pretty much, I'll never understand how people are surprised about last day donations
>>715346049Weโre almost covid free.
>>715345978A bunch of governments printed money to keep people in jobs while being forced to stay home. Entertainment would probably make a lot more money if people had that kind of discretionary cash in normal times.
>>715342382What the fuck about Rose and Camellia (never even fucking heard before?????) was so sick?
>>715345797It'll be even worse in the future. I think most people are tapping out of the tranny crap and thank God for that if that's the case.

do any of you remember this speedrunning event that predates GDQ? it was in some dude's basement, always had the same people and it was usually themed marathons. like zelda or pokemon only. i think chuggaconroy showed up once. was way, way smaller than GDQ but i swear they were GDQ's inspiration

>>715342382>>715342812And that's a wrap for another year! I'll be retiring to my cozy reddit place as usual, eager for the next event for 4chan-approved ratings to fish. So what's the story anyway with this schizo and his crusade against chartbro? Seems he spends quite a bit of time trying to falseflag against him be it acccusing him of being the steam 'ecker or now a redditor I guess.
>>715342575That doesn't even tell half of the story anon, every run had trans rights shouting every 5 mins, they even had a text graphic made for it to slide across the UI during more quiet moments. It's honestly so absurd how we've gotten to this point.

>>715347554No, they aren't missing any rights to begin with
>>715347997You don't understand. Trump is literally the President. This is basically genocide.
What do you mean other countries exist?
You guys claim this was the worst GDQ of all time and cite previous years like 2013 as being the peak. Yet I guarantee if you actually went back and watched those old runs from the early events, you'd get bored quickly. Keep in mind that the donation reading used to be way more frequent, commentary was a lot less informative with long stretches of silence, and quite a few runs were done by people who, quite frankly, sucked ass at the game or were unprepared for a marathon setting. Not to mention the crappy audio quality and godawful layout. Was it comfier and more authentic? Obviously, I won't argue that. But do they still hold up on rewatches compared to what we have now? I would honestly say no, and I can't help but feel like the main things people miss are just the chat being open and the event being smaller, which are fair but have little to do with the actual speedruns.
>>715341905>>715341956Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a marathon. A speedrunning marathon. A marathon with Spyro. And Spyro makes me crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once. >>715347641A lot of runs when people shouted trans right every 5 minutes.
>>715347641>How bad was the troon pandering this timeReally, really bad. Seriously, worst yet.
Like I could somehow tolerate 5 years ago the occasional troonie runner and a donation name ending up as "trans rights", but they seriously could not shut about it this year. I challenge you to find a single run without that stuff being mentioned.
The actual charity they were collecting money for was greatly overshadowed by trans this, trans that. Not even gay or lesbian positivity, just trans.
