Resident Evil 4 remake is a great game on STANDARD difficulty. Everything works as intended, as far as I can tell. But it's so painfully obvious that it just wasn't playtested on higher difficulties. On those difficulties, the problem of having high octane action while keeping the sluggish movement of the remake of 2 manifests itself. Couple that with the inconsistent staggering of enemies and you have a thoroughly broken game.

Sounds like you're going for the unlockable stuff but you suck too bad to S+ a professional run. Really the only area that's bullshit is the twin chainsaw sister room and it's doable if you stockpile grenades beforehand.

Re2make has more responsive character movement than Re4make.
The fuck are you on about?
And its pretty clear that the dev team focused on the survival horror aspect of RE more than the beatemup elements that were introduced into Re4OG this time around.
Hence the "sluggish" character animations, weapon sway, uncertainty in headshot stuns, resource gathering, more "realistic" tone and presentation, more "grounded" dialogue, etc.
The lack of a beatemup focus shows itself in how overpowering the knife parry is, the smaller knife hitbox, the increased amount of enemy tracking attacks in order to force either a crouch dodge or knife parry, the slower movement response of Leon, the lack of consistent headshot stunning on higher difficulties, the lack of close enemy grouping, etc.
Games not broken, it just has a different flavor this time around.

Pretty sure all these modern RE games aren't really playtested on their hardest difficulties.
>7 Madhouse is an absolute shoot-them-in-the-weakpoints, use-every-single-bullet shitshow that will near-instantly kill you from an RNG enemy lunge swipe
>2R and 3R damage scaling is fucked on Hardcore/Inferno and the enemy aggression gets so ridiculous that taking a single hit against 3R's final boss will just stunlock you to death
>8 Village of Shadows outright has damage scaling so bad that it doesn't really make any sense how it was playtested, since the player does peanuts while enemies had their HP bolstered several times, with economy not really adjusted to compensate
>4R kills most stagger by the time you hit Professional so enemies will sooner die to a handgun to the face than be made vulnerable to a melee

Professional seems obnoxious but you can just play slow and farm all the enemies to replenish your ammo/heals, even variety streamers manage to get through it.
The only real difficult thing is to actually s rank the campaign on that difficulty because of the limited saves. The mobs are able to run faster than leon for some reason.

I played all the modern REs in the hardest difficulty available on first playthrough and then on the unlocked highest difficulty and I never found it so difficult or unbalanced except some early game segments like the village part in re8 or stuff like that. And even then those segments were not unbelievably difficult. I never ever had a resource problem in modern REs. Never had to skip enemies because no ammo. Never had to tell myself, I should conserve ammo for an upcoming boss. So Im not sure whatOP is talking about.
